Have you ever wondered what the differences between English courses and Writing courses were? Perhaps you’ve not even given it any second thought. I too have found myself in this place, but in this article we are going be informed of the differences. I believe it to be essential to know the differences for any level of writer. Now you must be mindful of the fact that there are some similarities and we will share some of these within this article, but the primary purpose still stands and that is to share with you the differences of the two.

“The Differences between English Courses and Writing Courses”

One of the things that make a good writer a great writer is one who never stops learning. Writing is like art and is a continual learning art or craft. You cannot wake up one day and say to yourself I know everything there is to know about writing, this is just not a mature thought to have. Even the best writers still take courses to better themselves in their craft.

There are several different types of writing courses. Writers can take courses in just about any area there is. If you want to hone your skills in a certain area that you already of have some expertise in you can do that or you can also take courses in areas of writing that you have not yet open the door to. Some of the most common course is Creative Writing, Novel Writing, Business Writing, Romance Writing, and indeed Poetry Writing.  I will share my thoughts on a few of these.

Creativity Writing

Creative writing is one that holds a wide variety.  It encompasses article writing which then can go into many different markets in the non-fiction genera. Creative writing also encompasses short story writing, romance, children, mystery or in other words those things that follow in the fiction genera. Now you can learn things in detail in the precise courses that are dedicated to those areas of expertise, but creative writing is usually to help writers find the field or market that they want to venture into.

Novel Writing, Romance writing, and Children Writing

Novel writing is a fun course to take on. It is where creative power lies. Every writer is in essence a super hero. Every writer holds a type of super power. In whatever area of expertise a writer is in they use their power to conquer their enemy; that enemy being an uncreative mind. With words we truly can conquer the world. With a creative mind nothing is impossible.

In Novel writing we can take a lot of our personal lives and put into our work. A lot of truth in fiction lies in truth in reality. When we share our tales of fiction we can change moods in areas of reality. I do not know about you, but to me that is a super power belonging to a hero.

Poetry Writing

Poetry writing is another way of putting moods to rhyme formation. This takes skill and skill is gained by experience, but most are born with it and don’t even know it. If you have ever found yourself struggling to express yourself with words in conversation form then usually poetry is right up your ally.

What are the differences of Writing courses and English courses?

The differences are this. Writing courses are to guide and direct you in the areas of creativity. They are to hone your skills and to help you find the best area or genera that you are able to express yourself in. In other words a writing course is like an art course. An English course on the other hand is to help with sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar. It is the solid version of writing courses as appose to the abstract areas of writing found in writing courses.

Just like in art a painter has to know about different colors and different types of brushes and what those different types of colors and brushes do; this is the English portion, but creativity is something completely different. Creativity is not exactly something that can be taught, but it is something that can be found. Some people, some writers just need a little nudge in the direction that they are already going in. Yes, sentences structure, punctuation, and grammar are important and with these skills they can help you to better your art or your craft, but sometimes you need a creative mind as a guide.

In this article I shared with you some insight in the areas of creative writing and what the differences are from Writing course and English courses. Those differences are writing is the creative area and English is the outline to creativity. You may also look at it this way. English courses are right brain and Writing courses are left brain. Both are essential and necessary to create life and vision.

Every writer should take a writing course as well as an English course. Both are essential to becoming a better writer.

Never stop learning and never stop writing!
