Now how can you stop writers block?
Many writers such as myself have come upon the deadly disease called Writer’s Block. Yes Writers Block the worst thing that a writer could ever have in there writing career. So how do you get rid of this writer’s block? Many writers try to think of ways out of this funk they have and most of them have to wait until a idea clicks into there head (like me) . I had writers block since I graduated college with my degree in Creative Writing a year ago. Ever since I graduated my brain just shut down and all I was doing was writing Poetry. Poetry is not a bad thing to write about , but as I was writing poetry I realized at that time it was “easier” to come up with, but story writing was a different challenge in itself.
I’m mostly a fiction writer and for the life of me I could not bring myself to come up with a story. I have written many stories in my time since I was in college for it , but I think college burned out all of my ideas that I did have. My mind was blank just like a peice of paper in front of me and I felt like I was “useless” with this degree . (Wouldn’t you figure I would be creating stories after college?) Well to answer that question I wanted to take a break a little bit since I was tired , I had a rough year and I wanted to have my ideas come to me instead of forcing them. So I waited and waited, than months went by and I realized Crap I got Writers Block.
So how did I over come this wonderful disease? Well one day I was bored looking through my stories from my college creative writing courses and I found this one story that I have written eariler in my college years. So I reread what I had written and I thought maybe I should fix this. So I started to rewrite my story and so far I went from having five pages to thirty pages hand written rewriting this story. I guess it just takes a rewrite to spark your brain with creativity. So why didn’t it work with me before? I have no idea , but this one just had me write and write. I’m still working on this story till this day .
So what I suggest any writers that are suffering from Writers Block:
One:
Read Magizines, News Paper Articles- You can get some creative ideas from the articles that you read. Maybe something will spark your interest.
Two:
Try Brain Storming. What you can do is just brain storm random things like a setting, characters, plot and random things will come up. Than maybe you can look back at your brainstorm and think huh that would sound like a good story plot, character or setting.
Three:
Look through your old work. Maybe the old stories you wrote might can lead you not to struggle with writers block. If you look through your old work, I’m sure you would be editing it and saying huh I don’t like this, I want to change this, than your writers block will slowly start to go away.
I hope what I suggested might help you kick the writers block disease out of your system. Good luck !!!!
