The Curse of a Gift

The down side to having a talent.

Yes you might argue with me and say that being able to put words together on a piece of paper, and have it make sense, is an amazing gift. You would be right, but when you’re the one writing, you constantly have the urge to just write something. Especially, when you have nothing to write about or say.

Hands down I agree that being able to “vent” or have an outlet for your relentless emotions is a wonderful thing. Especially when you have no one to talk to and you just need to get the weight off of you chest; writing can be a very therapeutic and helpful tool. Expect, when you are being drawn to write, even though you’ve already written down everything you could for the time being.

Every “gift” has a limit to it. For some the “gift”, whatever it may be, comes completely naturally and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight; that’s wonderful. I’ve found that with writing though, even if you can throw together really random shit and it sounds amazing, that does not mean it will always just come to you.

So I ask the question, can a gift be a curse as well? Or is a gift always a mystery; just waiting to be discovered in new and exciting ways? I believe everyone has a gift that is unique to ones own. To be able to discover that gift, in the short amount of time that we’re here, is a feat all by itself.
