If you are looking for a website or two to jump start your writing creativity, then check out this great list of writing websites reviewed.
The best websites for writers
There are literally tons and tons of websites on the internet that are written for, or aimed at, writers. Unfortunately so many of those sites prove to be rather light on content, or just plain useless to a creatively challenged writer. In this article I am going to examine some of the websites which I consider to be among the best for writers.
Creative Writting Prompts
On of my favorite writer’s distention on the internet is creativewritingprompts.com. This site has over 300 writers prompts that pop up when you hover your mouse over them. This site is really great for helping to break a serious case of writers block, or conversely, can also use the site to provide prompts to start a good free writing session.
George Mason University’s Nonfiction Universe
George Mason University’s Nonfiction Universe is a great resource website if you are a non-fiction writer. The site offers a great general writing resource section including; dictionaries, grammar, punctuation, writing aids, and so on. It also has sections dedicated to each genre of non-fiction from article writing to essays, interviews, and more.
Write Sucess
Writesuccess.com is a great site for resources, inspiration, and general information for writers. The site has a particular focus on freelance writing careers. Not a tremendously deep site, but good for some inspiration and a creative boost from time to time.
Writing Fix
Writingfix.com is a great creativity site for writers. It has a great writing prompts section which generates a prompt based off the type of writing that you are doing, for example everything from journal writing to quick writing and so on. One of the really unique parts of this site is the photo prompt section. Basically they have some really interesting photos which you can use as a writing prompt. There are also other areas of the website which are worth checking out, including sections on the writing process, and general writing lessons.
Baby Names
If you are a writer of fiction, then babynames.com is a website that you will go to again and again to discover that perfect name for your character. The site offers a name search capability, and includes sections on; most popular boys and girls names, celebrity names, name lists, and more.
No matter which of the websites you try, mentioned above, you are sure to find something to inspire, educate, and help your writing. Sometimes its wonderful to just take a break from a serious writing project and review some of the sites as a creative aid.

Thank you for this, and I’m so glad you included the Baby Names website. Most people think I am weird because I have a baby name book, but it is one of my tools for writing, and I guess only other writers really understand that. Anyway, I am definitely going to check out these places, and can I just make a note that there is a great little writing community called Writers-Network.com and I encourage people to visit there as well =]
