If you’re looking to make money freelancing, don’t look to Textbrokers.com to make that happen.
I’ve been do a lot of experimenting as of late, since my new initiative to make millions writing online(and, help you do it too!). I’ve been mentioning as of late why this Triond gig is just not working out when it comes to earning real cash. I’ve been trying to search out whatever “could” be the next big moneymaker. I’ve been hearing a buzz lately about some freelancing sites, and when I hear promises of upfront payments, I pay close attention. I came across Textbrokers.com on someone’s blog when I was doing my online site research. Out of twenty-one comments, only two mentioned that they were disappointed that they couldn’t find any topics, and my further research showed up pretty favorable. I did what I felt was sufficient research, and I was convinced that I could possibly make $4+ with them. I even calculated that my best articles, that I write my hot topics on with another publisher presently, could possibly earn $15+, based on word count and experience. That’s a lot more than what I presently earn, so I was getting sold on the idea. As I always say, “everything is to good to be true, until a check is in my hand!”
I applied tonight, which included my entering a sample of my writing based on one of four choices they provided. I had no problem handling writing it, and I was accepted within a half hour. I wasn’t allowed to see the “available topics” upon joining, because my writing had to be evaluated first, red flag already! Once they approved me, I got to see my article choices, and it was laughable! All I can ask is, “who knows a thing about any of those topics?” Not one of those articles were about anything that seemed from the “real world.” They seemed to all be technical jargon, basically nothing I’ve ever heard of. I suspect that those that submitted the topics to the site, don’t know a thing about them either. This site basically passes on topics in demand that no one knows much about or understands, such as healthcare reform. If you can understand the almost 2,000 pages of the healthcare reform bill, you’ll have plenty of work for a mighty longtime, providing you’re able to navigate through what the client wants. That’s another negative, because who wants to be hesitant in their writing? I want to know exactly what’s needed of me, not the jotted vague note the client provides. I also don’t like that I need to search through topics that are not appealing and nothing like what we’d write at other sites.
The site means well, but trust me when I say they’re from mars. They’re not in touch with what content writers want, need, and expect from a company offering publishing opportunities. The obvious wrong with this site, is it offers junk topics that people would never want to write on and/or the majority of us could never possibly understand. It’s not their fault though, it’s their clients that add what they need to the site.
Don’t waste your time, or buy into the positive claims like I did. I know exactly why I never get excited about a new money making idea until I get a check in my hand.
