Suffering From Writers Block?

Despite your enthusiasm as a writer, it’s easy to hit a block when confronted with a blank screen you want to turn in to an article. Finding inspiration for blog posts and articles can be challenging at times and it’s something that every writer has to deal with somehow.

Filling the black page presented to you on the screen can be a daunting task when you sit down to write. You want to write the perfect article that will attract and engross readers but that is a mammoth task. It’s too easy to boot up a game of solitaire while you think and too soon your time for writing has passed without a word on the page.

Everyone has their own ways of dealing with writers block and there are many successful remedies. This is something that I have struggled with in the past and will probably have to overcome in the future. Some of the tricks I use to get writing again are:

Write about something different: If you normally write about the latest events in Runescape consider writing a political commentary, or an article about health or relationships instead.

Write about something you are excited about: Are you hyped about an upcoming film? Looking forward to the next World of Warhammer expansion? Waiting for the next book from your favourite author? Write a preview about it. You won’t be the only one who’s interested in it. You might be able to link to YouTube trailers of the movie or even better an authors website, where you might be able to get a link back.

Write a review: Whatever you’ve been doing, whether you’ve been to the local cinema or read a new book recently, reviews are a simple way to get yourself writing something and get the creative juices flowing.

Read other articles: There are no shortage of other articles around on Triond and other sites. Read some of them, possibly something at random, and you’ll find some interesting commentaries and advice. Your thoughts will no doubt differ from the author and so write your opinions on the same, or similar subject. Don’t forget to link back to the article that inspired you!

Consider your web searches: If you’ve searched for anything on the web recently, whether it’s to buy some new shoes to the latest celebrity news, write about your findings. If you’ve discovered a great bargain on new stiletto heels, there will be plenty of people interested to hear about it!

Do something different: If you’ve been writing solidly it’s easy to struggle to find subject matter. Take a break. Go for a walk or watch the latest news program. You’ll find plenty of things to inspire you.
