Stupid Articles Written Poorly Insult The Rest of Us!

Does Triond Publish anything and everything? Are there actually live people behind the publishing?

I have friends and fans on Triond that are eccentric writers with unbelievable creativity and talent. These ladies and Gentleman do work when it comes to writing an article or a short-story, and we all take pride in our work, don’t we?    I am all about encouraging others and helping others. I am also big on honesty and constructive criticism. I’d like to think if I wrote an article and it didn’t make sense and my basic grammar was ridiculous it just plain and simply wouldn’t get published. I was slightly anemic while I was pregnant and i was surfing HealthMad to find some information about it and I came across the worst article… It was just ridiculous!!! the sentences didn’t even make sense… Here I thought my stuff getting published meant it was good enough for people to read. This article made no sense at all and did not offer any kind of interesting information at all. I am curious to see if anyone else has came across articles that were just awful. Has anyone had an article that was rejected??? I strongly feel insulted that this article even got published much less the fact that it came up when I did a search for info on anemia while pregnant!!! Awful. Just Awful!!! I am really insulted that that kind of total garbage was ever published.

    I agree there is some junk out there. From what I understand the publishing is automated for the most part. This does allow some not so worthy material to get through. Triond has helped many new writers get their start by getting them published and many have continued to grow because of this.

    Yes, I have seen some horrible articles on Triond. Some are obviously spun, make no sense and are an embarrassment to the rest of us who write well and take pride in our work.

    Any and all of us that make a serious effort in publishing worthwhile content agree with this. When I started writing here it was not automatically published and the content was more heavily screened. I am very embarrassed by some of the content that not only gets published but goes on to sit in the hot content for days when it is not credible or poorly constructed. I no longer feel that this is a prestigious site. You only have to look at the titles promoted at the bottom of your articles to see our credibility going out the window.

    I totally agree I hate reading badly written articles because it’s like hey I just gave them a view and now they’re going to get paid for that article that was terribly written. I find that many articles on triond that are written by people in which english is not there native language that they really struggle to produce an article that is written correctly and that makes sense. Now I am not saying that this is always the case because there are many triond members out there whose second language is English and write very well, I am just saying that I see this to be the case a lot. Nice article about bad articles!

    i have seen many, and the annoying thing is many are just re-hashes nothing new in them. Things like the 10 hottest women in the world etc etc – aricles? i think not.

    Thanks Mary, and an eye opener…I’m new to Triond and thought that if something I wrote got published that it meant that it had substance and was a worthwhile read. Now after reading this,I’m not so sure…I like writing poetry and hope what I write actually gets read before they allow it to be posted,but that doesn’t seem like the concensus here. I also agree with cometbballgrrl too,I have received a few emails from members from other countries that try very hard to put their thoughts in English,sometimes the translation is a bit off. Maybe this is a forum to express oneself and they are not here to judge,so every article written is printed. Unfortunately, that doesn’t help us in finding out if what we have written is any good,I guess that’s up to our friends that we make on here…let them be the judge…btw good article ;-)

    I can understand your feelings. There is crap along with some extremely useful content. I’ve seen articles that will have just 2 or 3 lines and with nude pictures; they bring down the reputation of Triond.

    You just published one LONG paragraph.If we had proper editors it would never have been printed. It should have been broken down into several sentences in order to be read properly.

    Interesting argument, to my knowledge Triond is 80% automated with 20% vetting by humans! I have had articles rejected before on readability but this was in 2009 when I first started with Triond. English is my first language but I make grammar mistakes and spelling mistakes from time to time. I do worry when I make mistakes and I have had some terrible and awfullly hurtful remarks on my work; along with blushing reviews from loyal readers. Its a mixed bag on Triond but I am hopelessly addicted. Take care. LB

    I agree with you Mary… but… sometimes when a person first takes the leap and attempts to write, well lets say some of the first publications are not very good – I include myself here – I have written some garbage in the beginning, it took me a while to find my style and to be comfortable with that style.
    Don’t get me wrong, there is lots of crap on Triond, but that is only representative of the net as a whole .

    Good point well made

    It does raise more than a few question within the true writer’s mind. Thanks for sharing!

    There should be some kind of vetting system with regards to basic grammar, spelling and readability. If an article makes no sense whatsoever (and I’ve seen plenty that do not) it just drags Triond’s web rating down for the rest of us. If too many articles are flagged by google, does the whole of Triond go down with them? It makes you wonder…

    As long as this is open to everybody, then you shouldn’t be insulted. Many of us like to write, and many of us want to exercise their English and improve it by writing articles. When you have medical problems, you should search information from other places as well or ask a specialist.

    @Lowell- I agree Triond is a gr8 place for aspiring writer and in all is a fabulous and fun community!!! I love it here!!!
    @Terry-True That!!!
    @Judy- Your awesome- too funny..
    @cometbballgrr- Alot of times folks that speak english as a 2nd language have more unique articles because they come from a richer heritage, I respect all good people who try to better themselves or learn new things. I only know English so I won’t be writing any spanish articles any time soon- lol …
    @lxdollarsxl- I agree
    @Joe- don’t be silly, your a gr8 Poet and writer- lol
    @Anuradha Ramkumar- :)
    @ lanne- YOU ARE ABSOLUTLY RIGHT- LOL … In an article talking about other articles I should have at least made sure mine was written to the “T”… hahaha maybe i should spend more time critiquing my own right???
    @Angelgirlpj- I AM WITH YA!!!
    @Lord Banks and thespeakman- This article wasn’t someone trying their best on their first article. It wasn’t trying. It was slapping some words on the screen and hitting submit. There is a difference and you can tell when someone tries. I saw their profile, they had things like directions to a mall as articles, like seriously it was just crap. I would never be hurtful to someone on their first article!!!
    @anndavey650- That’s true, badly written stuff does bring down the rating for sure!!! And you are very brilliant with your writing and take a lot of pride in your work also, I can tell by reading your stuff, its all well thought out and all around a good read!!!
    @rappeter13- You are also right, Triond is open to the public. It is a forum for aspiring writers etc. It really is a free world, free internet, free speech, etc. But know the language before you write something for the world to read. I have read your articles and you do very well!! My babies are 3 months old now, so i don’t have any medical problem now. I was surfing to find more information on the topic where I had a slight case of anemia while pregnant. Trust me I wouldn’t be using HealthMad to diagnose any medical problem- lol … I like to read articles. Good articles :) Weird Articles :) Funny Articles :) Strange Articles :) Informative Articles :) ……… Just not Stupid Articles :( that don’t make sense!!!
    Thanks so much for the comments everybody!!!!
