Story: A Trip to The Dentist’s Office

Manor’s Dentist Office

As I wake up on a Saturday morning I walk against my will to the bathroom to brush my teeth before I go to my worst nightmare. I push the door open. The bell tinkles, with a soft but harsh ring.

 A wave of rubber gloves and disinfectant masked with air freshener washes over me. Chairs are messy in the waiting room of the dentists. A pile of magazines lie on the coffee tables. In front of where I stand is a desk. A smiling receptionist sits there. She seems to have been expecting me somehow, as she points to me the couches and chairs. A few nervous patients are waiting.. They try to turn away their eyes from the closed doors leading to the dental surgery rooms, where a scary high pitched whirring sound is coming from. I hear a soft thump.  While I was waiting the receptionist calls out the patient name; “Zahr, Ghida”.
     Posters on the walls are  “Before/After” photos. They show yellow teeth, set crookedly in red untreated gums becoming amazingly white and straight. The walls are painted a dull, white color; however photographs of people with bad teeth take my attention, from newspapers over the years. It must be my imagination, but already I can taste the old, bubblegum flavored gloves, the cool hard metal of the examining probe(machine) , and the chink clink it makes when it sometimes collides with my teeth. I can feel the weakness of the wiggly chairs, which are covered in plastic. In my mind I see the perfect teeth of my dentist, and perfect advertisement for his clinic. While I was day dreaming a sudden tap of high heeled shoes from the hallway wakens me up. My heart beats rapidly , and my hands sweat. I take a deep breath . Blood is beating through my head, I suddenly hear “Maple, Jane, Doctor John will see you now.” After I finished, I opened the door which lead me to the warm air of warren.

Even thought the dentist might sound scary, it isn’t that bad if you try it. Also you should always go to the dentist to have stunning teeth.
