Some Suggestions on Writing

What you can write and what you shouldn’t write.

I try really hard to write things that make sense.  I also try really hard to read other people’s work and comment on it occasionally, I don’t always comment, but I always check the “I Like It Button.”  I have noticed people have been leaving some pretty rude comments on some of my work.  I understand that everyone has their own opinion about topics, and I respect that.  I wish those same people would respect my work as well and not leave rude comments.  If you disagree, fine, say you disagree in a polite and respectful way.  I would never leave a tasteless comment on some one’s work.  Secondly, the people who are leaving these comments are wasting their time, because I just delete them.

Another thing that really bothers me is when people cannot seem to know the difference between the words their and there.  What is so difficult about this?  Do people not use Microsoft word or something like this program that points out mistakes like these?  Another thing is when they misspell every other word.  This only makes the author look uneducated.

My suggestion to these people is to always proof read your work.  Then proof read it again.  I know it’s easy to make mistakes, and I make them myself.

The last thing I have to say as an author is I write everyday.  It doesn’t matter what I write, but I always write something.  Before I write something that is going to be published, I always research my topic.  I make sure that I know what I am talking about before I sit down and hit the publish button.

And the most important thing is you must love writing!  It should be fun.  If you put it off and make excuses for not writing or dread sitting down and writing, then maybe this isn’t your cup of tea!

Well put, although I would recommend that people still leave constructive criticism, and know the difference.

Hi Cara. Yeah, I don’t get the rude comments either. That is NOT what this community is all about. Just read the article I wrote last month. Good job here in expressing your thoughts and feelings. I agree with all of it.

    Hi,
I say that you should leave the rude comments on and let other people decide for themselves. This site is for people that seem to care about others and people that just want to be heard. This is a truly great experience and I am thankful for all of it. If the same people continue to leave rude comments, I would definitely leave them there, simply because eventually their own work probably won’t get recognized due to the fact that they come across so hateful in others work. Maybe they are just jealous because they didn’t think about it. I am by far a writer and I write what is on my mind without thinking about it. Unfortunately. However, I do enjoy the attemp from my heart to try and make others happy! I think your work is great!
    Sincerely,

I take your suggestion about proof read. I need proof read several times, because now I realize there is still mistake although I have proof read mine.
