We all want to get the maximum number of views to our posts, and do everything we can to promote them. One of the most effective ways costs you nothing more than a little time, and can be remarkably effective.
I was asked the other day how I would recommend going about getting more views, having written over 500 articles, and the truth is that my submitting so many posts has helped my statistics in terms of views, because I have developed a large following, with many friends and fans, but I have also found that social site linking alsp plays quite a decent part in the equation.
I try to post something new every day, because that is the main thrust of keeping the viewers interested, in the sense that new content always stimulates curiosity among those who have enjoyed your posts in the past. Not that this fact is the only way to stimulate interest, because you need to promote your work as widely as possibe, more views meaning greater earning potential. One of the ways in which I do this is through social networking sites.
I have twitter and facebook accounts linked in to my triond pages, so that whenever a new post of mine is published on triond, notification automatically appears on these pages, so the more followers you have on these social sites, the more potential viewers for these posts you have. I also submit every post to stumbleupon and to digg – there is actually a triond digg group that is worth joining – to further increase my chances.
Then again, these are social sites which, though very useful in the way they can help you to promote your writing, do not pay you anything for your participation. There is now, however, a brand new site on the block, so new indeed that it has less than 1,000 members so far, where you actually get paid for being a part of it. This is a really good site called matesgate - http://www.matesgate.biz/refs?tonyleather -
This will be an important social site in the future, and I love it on there so far. You get paid for joining in with chats, posting commentary, strating discussions and much more, so not only is it fun but another income stream. I heartily recommenfd that you get signed up there. It is free of course, and full of promise, as you will see for yourselves if you visit the site.
It would be interesting to learn how many of you other triond writersuse social networking for promotion purposes, and what alternative strategies you might employ to get more viewers to your posts? I believe that back-linking is a big plus, and am a premium member at socialmonkee – a back-linking service – but so far I have not noticed a big impact from their services. Perhaps it simply takes time.
I can only tell others what my own experience has been, but one thing is most decidedly crystal clear about writing for this site, and that is the unfortunate reality of triond not being a place to earn a living as a writer. The site is simply not high enough in search engine rankings to attract the kinds of viewer numbers that would be required to achieve such earnings, but if you like to write for the joy of it, then this is a good place to be.
Let me know please, how you all see the problem of attracting enough readers to your work, and what steps YOU take to help yourselves in this regard. I have found that social sites definately do make a difference, but there may be things I have not yet found, which others do, that also help? I simply want to know that the work I sweat over, appreciated as it is, from the positive feedback I get, is reaching, and touching, as many people as possible. Not too much to ask, I hope?

I know you have read my latest article regarding this site so you know how I feel. I have only been doing this avidly for about 2 months but even on my busiest day was only able to bring in about 300 views and I literally sat at my computer for the entire day. I also use facebook, twitter, google, and digg, plus I have my articles on my blogger at lanisuvanich.blogspot.com . None on these seem to get too many hits. I do believe you are right and Triond itself simply doesn’t get enough views, but I am going to try for a bit longer before I throw in the towel.

I use Twitter, Facebook, my blog and back links from Every Day Fiction to drive hits to my Triond account. So far I am averaging over 200 hits a day. As my Twitter following grows and the number of my friends at Facebook grows I hope to average 300 hits every day in June, 400 hits every day in July and so forth. At least that is the plan.

Not all social sites are created equal, I guess. Some are better than others. Nice post.
