Ideas of poetry writing.
Since the writing of poetry is so varied, I can only touch on some of the things that encompass composing poems.
As events happen to me, I write down as if I am journaling, however I select words that rhyme at the end of each sentenance making the words swing. Personal thoughts of happiness are my favorite topics especially times of great involvement of myself or someone very close to me. Feelings seem to engulf my messages ,profoundly, as I expand on my subject material. Most of the poems are quite serious even though I have occassionally written very light hearted pieces.
It is my practice to keep a piece of paper and a pen handy at my bedside so when I ponder an area I wish to jot down words using in some way, I don’t have to wait until morning when perhaps I forgot them. After I have successfully considered the content, I put a title on my work. I rarely begin with the title first.
All around me, everyday, there seems to be something of interest for me to write about. There does not appear to be “dry” times for me often. Without much concentration, I have the flow of words to share on paper.
My objective is to give to others, so these poems are enjoyed by other than myself alone. Some are wonderful, while others are fair. My highly personal thoughts are never shared while I am living unless I choose to do so with selected people in my life. Those selected secrets might be viewed after I pass away and then enjoyed by more than just myself.
As a child, I recall liking rhyming words, so maybe this composing has been developing for 40 years or more. I do consider it a gift from God that I can bring forth my inner most ideas in this way. I am most thankful for this over the years even though I have not published any of my collection prior to 2005. Boasting is not in the mix for sharing , only giving my gift so it can be enjoyed with others.
