Reddit.com- Not Worth The Effort

Why not to bother with this site- my personal experiences.

Like many writers, I am constantly on the lookout for ways in which I can promote my articles, get more views and increase my earnings potential.  I have written several articles now that suggest ways of promoting articles and telling other writers about my experiences of different sites and whether they are worth the effort.  On the whole, I have written very positive comments about most of the sites, occasionally highlighting a few negative downsides to a site, but usually highlighting the positive aspects of the sites and how they will help you.

This article is different as it is mainly taking a negative view of a site that I had previously heard good recommendations for using.  However, I can only relate my own experiences to other people, whether they have had similar experiences or not is a different matter.

The site under scrutiny today is reddit.com.  This is one of the sites that Triond writers will find if they click on the share content button, but can be accessed by anybody who creates an account.  Being a Triond writer is not a necessary requirement of joining reddit.com.

I created an account in January 2011, using the simple online submission form.  I was told a confirmation email would be sent to my email account.  However, they did still let me submit an article.  Therefore, my initial impression of this site was a good one.  I then tried to submit another of my articles to the site, only to be told that I had submitted too many articles and would have limited access until I had received my confirmation email from then.  Fair enough, I thought.

I waited for over a week but received no email.  I requested another email everyday until I finally received one, almost two weeks after initially completing the form.

Great, I thought.  I can now settle down to the business of submitting all my articles to this site that so many people have said so many good things about.  I duly submitted my first article to the site.  Feeling pleased with myself and my efforts towards promoting my articles, I then attempted to submit another article.  I was told by the site that I had submitted to the site too often and that I should try again in an hour.  I returned to my computer an hour later, only to be told the same thing.  This time I left it two hours before attempting to submit my article again.  However, the same message kept being repeated to me.

My next tack was to think that I would leave it twenty four hours before attempting to submit an article again and just submit one article a day in the future to avoid wasting my time with failed submissions and to keep being told to try again in an hour.  The following day, I logged on again, only to be told the same things- that I had submitted too many articles recently and to try again in an hour.  I wouldn’t mind, but in almost a month, I had only succeeded in submitting two.

This time I left it a full week, focusing my efforts on writing a few knew articles and using other sites to promote my work.  When I finally logged on again, I found myself faced with the same message.  I have now given up attempting to use the reddit.com site as it seems to be a complete waste of time.  After two months of efforts, I have only achieved two article submissions to their site and this has probably taken me three or four hours of work keep logging on and attempting to submit articles.

My advice is not to even bother with this site and to look for other ways to promote your articles.
