I am thinking that it is time for me to spread my wings and fly away from this place that I thought was going to help me become a better writer. I don’t really know if that is the case anymore.
You know what I absolutely hate this month? I had one day where I published two articles and my views sky-rocketed in like an hour to well over 300 views and the other day I published like 4 articles and I was lucky to get 100 views. I am starting to wonder whether or not Triond is worth my time anymore. I spend most of my time on here writing articles for Triond and finding that I don’t get any views or I don’t get many views.
I am not sure what it takes to write a stellar article anymore. I see ones with really catchy titles that make me click just to see what they are about and others that are great news articles about what is going on in the world today. I tend to steer more towards health related articles and write how-tos about almost anything that I know about. I see some people who will write an article and then a month later submit a similar article that looks like they just went in a rearranged the words and used a synonym process to change out certain words in their articles so that they can create an entirely new article but really just the same article only worded differently.
I have made some great friends on here, but I don’t want Triond to be just about making friends for me. I want this to turn into a second income for me since I can’t work due to personal issues within my family. I want to also get critiqued on my work so that I can grow into a better writer with more experience and more passion because I am constantly getting better in my writing. I feel like this site doesn’t offer that, they publish just about anything and everything. They even publish articles that are riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes and it pains me to see this. A lot of my friends already know that because I read their articles and let them know where I find a spelling mistake or a grammatical mistake that they need to fix. This helps improve their writing as well as learning to write more smoothly without so many errors. I don’t try to offend anyone but I like to be helpful.
I don’t know how I feel right now. I am thinking about quitting Triond and moving to another site where I can get more feedback and maybe a better following. I don’t want to write if no one is interested in reading what I have to say. I believe that you would feel that way as well if you spent all that time writing just to have one person view your article in a month. I feel there may be better uses for my talent elsewhere.
Thank you for listening as this morning I climbed upon my soapbox and ranted and raved about my experience with Triond.

Don’t be disheartened, I know I am a decent writer yet I get very few readers of my work. This is why it is important that you do it for the right reasons.
If monetary gain is the primary goal. then your needs are better served elsewhere for sure. I wish you luck

Thanks for sharing.
To be honest, I’m rather disappointed with the “publish anything” mentality too. A lot of stuff is absolutely rubbish, so it’s hard to stand out. I was personally overjoyed when one single article of mine got 100 views, and that’s such a low bar -_-

I guess with this particular article you have written you’d be getting a serious number of views.

I think many of us had much lower views this much as so many were trying to write articles, more than usual, for the February special. I can guarantee you that it isn’t that no one wants to read your articles, it is just something else. It happened to me for a few days, and I also wrote an article about it. And we all are trying to be good writers and we will all improve when we aren’t judged so harshley. I say don’t give up and I bet your numbers go right back up in the first week of March. I expect mine too.

I have been on triond for two years, and in the last six months have more friends and views, only because I spent substantial amount of time.

No,way you can’t do this .I read your articles and you are my inspiration you know why because your articles are tremendous .I know by writing such an article you want to see your followers.Come on now give a positive reply .Money is needed okay fine but by writing atleast we are doing something constructive.By the way if you find another such site tell me too we will be together again…..

I understand where you are coming from, I have been around writing for quite a few sites. I have found this one to be like home making friends I can depend on in my writing goals. If you must try writing somewhere else and see if you like it. Keep your options open and perhaps return to us. Is it the writing skills or is it the cash because I know the latter is a little lean. Perhaps you could try writing for a magazine or be a freelancer in earnest.

I too have seen a marked increase in the amount of “garbage” published here. Things that are obviously pumped out purely for the numbers and hoping they get the hits. But it’s this rubbish that makes the well written pieces so much more enjoayble to read.
Don’t be disheartened as I firmly believe that quality will win out over quantity in the long term.

As far as I can see, you already write well. If you want to sharpen your craft further, I would suggest writing for print. It’s still the best, editors are punishing in that medium. If you want more views, it does not matter what site you join… learn better SEO. That’s the thing about internet writing, content is only half the effort. The rest is presentation and promotion.

I’m new here and in my second week of posting articles. I’m here for a similar reason: I want to to improve my writing and try to make a little pocket money. I’m also here to learn about how to be online and how to market a website. The one thing I have learned is that getting readers is HARD. And now the Google has changed their algorithm to make it harder for sites like Triond, (http://webupon.com/search-engines/google-takes-on-content-farms/) it may be time for a lot of people to re-ervaluate why they are here. I think that if you are in it to write, then perhaps you should have your own blog. If your in it for the money, I think you’ll be disappointed no matter where you go. Also, I don’t know how long I’ll stay, either, because of the complete lack of quality control here. There is an amazing amount of plagiarism and plain old bad writing here.

One of the problems in publishing on the web is the fact that some things are like by a large crowd, and other things by hardly anyone. If you wind back the clock 20 years and you were publishing an article in a newspaper then you would have no idea of real readership. At least you get an idea on-line.
Whilst we all want consistently high readership we all have to realise that we must be a known name for that to happen. I have been thinking about this problem as well and would prefer to have a steady readership than a spiking readership, but then I am not focusing on publishing large numbers of articles per day. A difficult problem, but on balance I think you should stay and contribute, we are all the better for it.

Thoughtful article, Sage. I do most of my writing, I am not a writer btw, but trying to be, at another site and branched out here. My motivations are different than yours but have some of the same frustrations, few writing hints when I ask for them, not as many comments as I would would like, not a whole lot of readership.
On Triond, I only have five published (two in the works) with only 49 views and one comment so far, sort of disappointing, but not unexpected given the content; a poem, a health article, and three politically oriented pieces. The only one I expected hits on was the article on dieting, the first in that genre, and it got the least, go figure. One problem I find with Triond is where to put the article, having choices is wonderful but the range, in my opinion, isn’t expansive enough, especially for political articles.
Your kind of articles get lots of followers where I do most of writing and lots a views it would seem, but, I have no clue about the income. It the ratio of clicks to views are any guide from my site, it is bread and water all around. Having said that, their are those that say they are doing quite well, thank you. I wish I could say that I am part of the that crowd but you probably know the answer the that one.
You might try other sites, but not give up this one if you have itchy fingers and as one of my amazing 46 followers says … keep on hubbing.

I hardly get over 50 views a day. On days where I publish a really good article, I might get around 200-300. I had one really good one that made it onto the top content list and got over 2,000 views in one day, but that was it.
I have noticed that as you write more and get more followers and fans, you start to write better, more attractive articles. I’ve published almost 200 articles and have over 20,000 views total. Not great for income, but it does get better.
This is a very will written article, and I’m sad to see you leave Triond.

The most important thing you have to remember is to write for you. Do it for yourself not for other people. Writing is my passion and I love to it. I don’t do it for the money but feels nice to get paid for it. When it comes to Triond you have to look and think about the people who will be seeing it. People from facebook or twitter so on what do they want to read. This is not the place to learn to write better but you can’t let this place make you feel like that. Its some things that people liek and then others they dont.
