Putting an End to My Writer’s Block

This week I logged back on to Triond after a long time only to discover that it has been a little over 5 months since I have published anything. To be honest, I was quite shocked that it had been so long. Granted, I’ve been somewhat busy but mostly I just got struck by writer’s block.

However, I have decided that I should not blame the fact that I haven’t written any articles in 5 months on this ‘writer’s block’. It’s my own fault, because there is always a way to find inspiration. And the new August Special will furthermore motivate me to write at least 5 articles this month. I know I can do it, I just need to find the time and put some effort into finding inspiration.

I usually find my inspiration by surfing the internet. Stumbleupon is a good way to find ideas for article subjects. It just takes you to random websites. If I’m lucky, I discover an interesting theme for a future article. I usually then save my ideas in the drafts section here on Triond. I have also found mylot a good source of inspiration at times. When I read an interesting discussion and then reply to it, I sometimes expand that response into an entire article, though I do make sure I don’t steal anything. If surfing the internet does not help me overcome my writer’s block, I shut off my computer for a while and just do something else.

Another way to get inspired is by going outside. Sometimes I just go for a walk, I think about stuff and look around. It’s a good way to get your mind off of things while at the same time brainstorming for your next article.

Watching some tv can also help me gather some ideas. Sometimes I just randomly zap until I find something fascinating. I guess it can be compared to the way I use stumbleupon. 

Hopefully I will find the time and the inspiration to qualify for the August Special. I will definitely make sure to brainstorm and search for information to get there. I will also try to never again take a 5-month break from writing articles for Triond, because I really enjoy doing this.
