Pursuing a Career as a Mystery Writer

Mystery stories are sometimes the most interesting kind of novels to read.  Mystery stories keep the reader in suspense and many times capture a large reading audience.  If you are interested in becoming a mystery writer there are a few things that you need to focus on.

First, once you get the experience and education required, just begin writing.  Writers do some of their best work by jotting anything that happens to come to mind at any given time.  Murder mysteries are one of the most popular kinds of stories to read.  If the writer can capture the readers attention with a good “who done it” novel then the writer has a pretty good chance of producing excellent & interesting material. 

Love stories seem to also capture the interest of readers.  Love stories that end tragically are most popular with readers drawn toward that kind of material.  Although, love brings about so much joy for some, sometimes love may also end tragically. 

Finally, you may consider self-publishing if you are just starting out.  If you are looking for agency representation, you may find much resistance if you are an up and coming Arthur.   Keep in mind; you have complete control over the quality of the material in which you choose to write.
