Pros and Cons of choosing a current and sensational topic for article writing
It is true that a current and sensational issue has always been the pick of many writers for writing articles. The article writing web sites such as Triond favor this approach and even recommend the writers to write articles on current and hot topics. However, when we proceed to analyze this approach, we come across many loopholes in it and it may not be helpful in the long run for writers who hope to earn perpetual income through their articles. However, we cannot entirely give up this approach, since it has got its own merits too. When we consider and analyze this approach from a broader perspective, we may come across many pros and cons as follows:
Pros:-
· People are always crazy and evince more interest in reading an article on a current and sensational issue or topic.
· Since more people focus their attention in reading such articles, they have more views and in turn such articles fetch more income.
· Current and sensational issues always receive a wider attention from the mass media such as news papers, televisions, on line sources such as web sites, blogs, forum etc. Hence, writers who wish to write on such current and sensational topics will have plenty of print and on line resources.
· Writers who write articles on such current and sensational topics not only earn more through their articles and also become sensational and featured writers overnight. Thus their on line reputation is enhanced manifold.
Cons:-
· The euphoria over the hot and sensational issues naturally evaporates within a few days, unless the issues are recurring and continuing. A day light bank robbery may be a sensational issue and hot topic for the time being but its effect is short lived and ephemeral. Whereas, the Indian Lok Pal movement, the Lok Pal bill etc have been hot and sensational issues with a wider political connotation with recurring political events and episodes. For example the fasting undergone by the Lok Pal leader Anna Hazare and his arrest and release was one among the series of episodes of the Lok Pal movement. The failure of the Indian Government to pass the Lok Pal bill in the Rajya Sabha was yet another sensational episode of the Lok Pal movement.
· When the hot and sensational issue loses its euphoria, the concerned episode may become part and parcel of the history of the past and it no longer has any commercial value. In other words an article written on the hot and sensational topic reaches a saturation point and is no longer read widely. The law of diminishing returns squarely applies to this case and so when the views for the article decreases, naturally it leads to the reduction of revenue for the article.
· An article writer who focuses his attention on writing such hot and sensational topics naturally lose a perpetual and recurring income gradually and of course in the long run..
· Articles written on such hot and sensational topics very soon lose their relevance. They will become only a history of the past and they are fit only for being archived.
Therefore, before choosing a hot and sensational topic for writing an article, just analyze its pros and cons. Then it is good to proceed to write or drop it.

Good. I very rarely write on a “hot topic” unless I am really interested in the subject and can add a personalized view on it rather than just facts.
Also, so many writers, not just on triond either, write about that one issue and so I have found the article just gets lost into an abyss of never seen again work.
