You want to persuade the readers to agree with you in some way, so you need to be really sure about what you are trying to achieve or persuade of them. A persuasive essay should have an introduction that will get the readers attention. There should be background information on the topic. The end of the introduction should clearly state what your own view point is. This will be the body of the article and the persuasion that you will be arguing.

The body of the persuasive essay should be broken up into paragraphs. It should have points that support your own position. There should be evidence that can back up your claims and ideas. Each paragraph should only focus on one main point. Keep each point separate so that it is easier to read and understand. There should also be examples that will support your ideas and position as well. There should also be a paragraph that does address the apposing view on the topic or subject. It should explain the opposing view, but then be able to immediately refute these ideas.

The conclusion of the persuasive essay should restate the main idea again, but in a different way. The supporting points should also be restated as well. You want the audience to be able to connect to your ideas and thoughts. It should summarize what the essay said, as well hit the key points again so that the audience or reader understand the connection and there is a better chance of them agreeing with you.
