Write because you enjoy it!
I have been dutifully searching for the next freelance writing site that would help increase my Paypal funds. My Paypal account is my funny money. I use it for things that I would not buy otherwise. Since I am now 6 months pregnant, it’s more important now than ever to have my funny money. I had been writing for a site called Wordgigs for the last 2 1/2 years. Apparently, I was not considered a loyal enough writer since my account was deactivated after a supposed 2 months of inactivity. I recently got a new position at work and have been transitioning into my new position. I reached out to the owner of Wordgigs to fill him in on my situation and to hopefully gain back my access. His response? “Well, it sounds like you are far too busy for Wordgigs, congrats on your new job.” WHAT!?? Why would I have taken the time to track him down if I wasn’t committed to writing for his site? Furthermore, it had not even been 2 months since I logged in, it had been about 3 weeks. I was very disappointed but I have decided, perhaps it’s time to move on. Time to further my writing. Write for me and not for some guy on a power trip. I came across Triond and heard that it is a decent place to freelance. We’ll see how it goes. So far, I like the fact that I can ramble about how much I despise Wordgigs. Maybe I’ll even get paid more? And if I don’t? Well, at least I know I’m writing because I enjoy it, not because I selected an article on air conditioning units that’s due in 3 days.
