Online Tools Every Article Writer Should Use

Anyone who writes online should use these free writer’s tools.

Anyone who writes online has experience problems at some point.  Occasionally you will need a little help.  Whether it’s writer’s block, finding a topic, a problem with wording, or wondering about keywords, there is help for the online cyber writer.  Below are free to use online applications and free downloads that can help give your article a boost and you help gain more clicks.

Thesaurus.com  Thesaurus.com is the largest and most used online reference for finding synonyms and antonyms.  You will also find a dictionary, translator, reference pages, and daily word games at Thesaurus.com.

Word Count Tool.  One company I write for insists on a minimum amount of words per article. If you find yourself in such a position and your word processor doesn’t offer a word counter, Word Count Tool is quick and easy. Just copy and paste your article into the box and wait for the count.

CyberWire If you are stuck for a topic to write about, CyberWire will tell you the current top 15 search topics.  The list is updated in real time as search trends change.

ReadPlease  Have you ever submitted your article only to find you misused wording or punctuation, or maybe a sentence is too long or short? Read Please 2003 is a free download that will help you catch mistakes that may have been overlooked during proofing by having your article read back to you.  I seldom submit an article without running it through Read Please first.  I find it is one of my most valuable writing tools.  Simply copy your article into Read Please and go.  Corrections can be made on the Read Please page.

WordFlood  WordFlood is a word replacement program that can help change a generically worded article onto a masterpiece. Simply copy and paste your article into WordFlood and within seconds it will bring up multiple alternative words for you to consider using.  Just click the alternative word you would like to use and it is automatically switched.  WordFlood is also used to rewrite articles to give them new life.

*WordFlood 1.2 used to be a paid article tool but is now free to all users.

Plagiarism Checker.com  Finding and taking back your plagiarised articles will put your money in back in your own pocket. If someone else is using your article on their site that means that part of the clicks that should be coming to you are going to the plagiarised article instead.  While testing this software, I found seven sites had plagiarised one of my best paying articles.  This means it is possible that I have lost seven times the amount I have been paid since I submitted my article four years ago.  Out of the seven free Plagiarism tools I tested online, Plagiarism Checker.com was the most effective.  It pays to check for plagiarism.
