Show them what you can do for them. Brow your own horn. Don’t hold back, or they will never know about you. They need to know what you can do for them.
On-line writing is marketing writing. It doesn’t matter how serious your writing is, if it is to achieve reasonable readership, it must carry some marketing quality. Products and concepts are offered that ride on the back of on line stories. this is the case of writing that multitasks. And most web content is designed to multitask. This way, the writer and the story sponsor are happy.
Marketing yourself effectively demands that you are not modest. The market has no place for modesty: it is so full of blatant show-offs that nobody will notice you and your modesty.
When you write to show off yourself and what you have to offer, make it clearly visible. How do you do this? It starts at the target readership that you decide to service. Understand them: who they are, what they are searching for, what trends they follow, what kind of reading they like, who their idols are and such similar information. These may constitute the key words and phrases they use when searching within the web.
Article Title: this needs to conform to the readership and what it wants to know. It may be necessary to search for and use leading keywords associated with your topic and readership. These will position your articles so that they are visible to search engines, making them available to those who search for related information.
Opening and body of the article: the opening determines how far readers go into your story. Application of key words is important. Take care, however so that your article is not overstuffed with keywords that it is blacklisted by the search engines.
You should also make sure that every key word or phrase used fits naturally within the story. As you write the body of the article, let your words show what you promised to give in your title and opening. Remember, even though what you write is read, it should also show. Teach your reader something, give new information, solve a problem, entertain and guide.
When you are satisfied that you have given what you set out to give, bring the story to an end with the same enthusiasm you used at the beginning. Remind the readers in summary that you set out to provide a solution and you have lived up to your promise. Let them want to read another of your articles. Give them a link to another of your stories and invite them to read it.
