I’ve decided to express my opinion about the heated debate regarding the hot content list. Should it stay or should it go?

The hot content list has become a heated topic recently in the Triond community. In the last month, we have seen new articles regarding this subject, being both positive and negative. I’ve decided to express my opinion.
1. Most Writers Want To Be Apart Of It.
Yes I admit it, I am on one of these. The glory of seeing your content displayed on here gives you instant satisfaction. To many writers, it is the pinnacle of writing on this network.
2. Below Par Content.
With the up-most respect to writers who make this list, some of the content is below par by most writers standards. Articles displayed on here have shown poor grammar, spelling errors and punctuation problems. The writing structure to some articles have been below standard.
3. The Hard Work.
Some writers almost do anything to get their content on this list. Writers submit multiple articles everyday on a range of topics, hoping to one day make the grade. For some, success has happened straight away without much hard work, and for others, they struggle.
4. The Exposure.
Making the list can expose your articles to a whole new world. Writers who haven’t viewed your work, will see it for the first time and express their thoughts, either positive or negative. It may have a impact on your view count, as this list is displayed on every writers Triond dashboard when logging in.
5. Once You Make it, You Stand A Good Chance Of Returning.
Have you noticed that many of the same names are creeping up on the list? Many people have commented regarding this debate, that once you get your name on there, you stand a much better chance of returning. I agree with that, the formula that the Triond editors use to determine who makes the list is still a mystery to everyone.
6. The Constant Debate
The argument will forever live on, which articles really do deserve to make it. There are definitely articles on the list which deserve to be there and some that don’t. At the end of the day, it is the Triond editors who decide, I just wish they would let us know how they pick them.
7. The Frustration
Long gone are the days that the most perfect article makes the list. Even the most correctly spelled, best structured and most interesting articles don’t make the grade. Is it really all about the views you receive before hand? Many writers are feeling the frustration of this, no matter how hard they try.
8. Does It Need To Be There?
Do the Triond community really need this? Would it make us strive more to write better articles or give us no challenge at all? The Hot content list deserves to stay I believe, but articles should be correctly judged before they make the list. Every writer needs something to strive for when writing on-line.
9. The Impact On Your Writing Income.
Some writers have reported a significant rise in views when their content has made it and some have seen nothing at all. If your articles spend a good amount of time on the list, your view count is destined to rise. If your article is on there briefly, it may not have much impact. It all depends on the quality and popularity of your content and how it is viewed by the Triond community.
Overall, The hot content list deserves to stay. If it was better managed and the administrators would explain how they decide who makes this list, maybe we would all begin to understand and the debate would come to an end.

The list will probably stay because its a marketing tool. And Triond may feel that revealing how to get on the list would actually reduce creativity.

I think this perfectly encapsulates what exactly the Hot Content list is all about. I’ve been there a few times and there have been times when I thought, my article shouldn’t be there especially when they only had about 30 views and only a couple of comments. I’ve written loads of articles speculating about the nature of the Hot Content list but this article I think is just putting the facts straight. Nice piece of writing.

Ben Pearce..the bane of my existence here at Triond is the ‘Hot Content’ list. I couldn’t agree with you more on the positives and negatives of same..and I could not have worded my chagrin of same any better..yes, there are deserving writers on the ‘Hot Content’ list and some great articles..but there has been a lot of rubbish..yes, exactly that..rubbish on the ‘Hot Content’ list. I have sent e-mails to Triond re: my discontentment with same..and it’s the same old story..no real explanation. I will continue to write the best content I possibly can..but do I care about making the ‘Hot Content’ list? Ha!.I don’t think so..I’ll leave it to the so-called experts

At least it is creating discussion and more articles. Sometimes mysteries are good.
