Have you visited The Writers’ Facebook lately and tried posting links on your articles there for writing friends to see?
If you haven’t become part of The Writers Facebook yet, it is time you did. This is a growing site for writers and it can only get better through your involvement there. It is a place for writers to connect, comment and learn, not necessarily in that order.
Having been there with it’s creator and founder, Jimmy Shilaho, and a few other faithful Triond friends from the beginning, it has been a delight to watch this new meeting and promoting place grow. So many familiar Triond faces are appearing there, wonderful to see.
However, not all those who are members are active yet. I’d like to encourage more of you to use the site more. It can only benefit you. One of the features I’ve just managed to conquer, is the instant messaging there. One night recently I manged to connect with four different writers in four different countries. We chatted briefly, just enough to make contact. But what wonderful possibilities there are, for discussing one’s work and the work of others in real time.
Even more exciting, for me anyway, is the new Forum feature, where you can post links to your recently published articles. we all want our articles to be read as widely as possible. If you’re like me, you often miss when the latest articles of your writing friends are published and need to make time to deliberately search them out. This latest feature on The Writers’ Facebook enables you to list your latest articles and insert links to them. Why not try it out. I have already had my articles read by two people who have not visited my work before, thanks to these links. I have also had a couple of regular readers say thanks, they’d missed seeing that one published. And, I’ve read the work of two writers who were new to me.
We are all there on The Writers’ Facebook to support each other. Most of us need to actively attract that support in whatever way suits us best. How wonderful that we have another outlet for promoting our articles. And, who better to promote yourself to than other writers.
A third, and unexpected, benefit for me from joining The Writers’ Facebook is an extension of my internet skills. I have only ever done a little chatting online, so needed some help to get going with this on WFB at first, but now I am away and can see endless possibilities for learning and meeting other writers. my trouble is, I seem to live in a different time zone from many other members. I’ve also learnt how to lonk to articles properly, something I have struggled with previously. So, many thanks to those who have helped me learn and grow.
So, coe on all you Triond writers and any others reading this. Go visit us all on The Writers’ Facebook. See which of your writing friends are there. Then join. But don’t leave it at that. Become active. Submit posts, contribute to Forums, list links to your articles and interact in real time with others. You’ll soon become a regular visitor there, as I am.

Good article. Writer’s facebook really seems like a great place. I also joined almost immediately after I read about its foundation. Though, I am one of those who are not active as I didn’t have much time so far – I spend most free time (not counting my writing time as free as I consider that my job) reading friends’ articles on triond.
But I will certainly become active there after I finish my studies (might take another 3-5 years). Until then, I won’t have enough time most part of the year.

Aha, no matter how well you think you’ve edited your work, those crazy mistakes still creep through. Of course, from reading above, you all know that I have learnt to link my work, not lonk it

Two articles in a row, Val. Your 1000-article mark shouldn’ t be difficult at all.
I am a member of that group; yet have not made much use of it. Yet.

I’ve been trying to veer from facebook addiction LOL! But I will take a look at this and see if I can have a go at it. Thanks for sharing this Val.

I thought it was another facebook account. I misunderstood. I checked the site. It’s a good one.

Well done Val. Yes, I love the chat feature. It’s so good to be able to chat to writing friends and meet new ones. The encouragement and support there is fabulous.

I don’t know why, but the site doesn’t open up at all for me.
