My Top However Many Writing Tips

Stuck in a writing rut? Want to know the secret to writing success? Here are my top five tips to happiness, monetary fulfillment, and writing success.

Stuck in a writing rut? Want to know the secret to writing success? Here are my top five tips to happiness, monetary fulfillment, and writing success.

5. Don’t just say what you want to write, write it.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been tripped up by this. You think of the most brilliant thing, form what words you wish to describe it with verbally, and expect everyone to have read your marvelous article, only to be met by confusion, and anger from those whom you thrust your expectations upon. You skipped a step. Write it down.

4. Show, don’t tell.

So you have just finished your literary masterpiece, and you want to bestow the gift of intellectual enlightenment upon the world; whats the first thing you do? Walk the streets aimlessly, telling strangers, and friendly acquaintances that you have just finished one awesome string of words? No! Actually show them your words. Let people read them.

3. Long hand wont get the job done.
One of the most important aspects to writing is the implements with which you choose to produce said writing. Not every device devised to transcribe your thoughts to the tiny squiggles most written languages are comprised of are equal. If you want to be successful, you will turn to the push button methods used by all successful writers, and leave behind the tediosities of the past.

2. Make words up.
Not sure you know just the right word to describe how your character did whatever? You needn’t confine your self to reality. You are already making up a series of events in which  an assortment of false people (assuming you are writing fiction, the only form of writing deserving of effort) act, so why not also create words to spin their yarns with.

1. Let not your mind be unaltered.
Let’s face it; your brain simply was not designed to be creative. Luckily much time has passed since the days of yore, and we have many, many agents by which you can change your personality and mood. The old staple of writers is of course drink. It is also the most safe to advocate, what with it being legal to obtain most everywhere. But don’t ever forget the many other chemicals which will affect your mind in positive ways. My rule of thumb: if it is a natural by product of life, consume, if man made, google its effects, and weigh logically. Don’t want to possibly harm your body? Smoke.

I think they are arranged in order of their importance to writing. If I told you my number one tip first, you’d have to reason to continue reading. And of course the descending order is intended to preserve suspense.
