I figured I’d try my hand at some lyrics. I wrote lyrics before, but, nothing like these. I hope you all enjoy.
(Chorus)
When I close my eyes
It’s you, I can see,
Playing and laughing in the sunshine
Just my baby boy and me.
(Verse 1)
I carried you for nine months
Our souls are as one,
We’re connected by that bond
Not to be taken away by anyone.
(Verse 2)
I held you in my arms
Just after you were born,
I had to give you away
My heart was so torn.
(Chorus)
When I close my eyes
It’s you, I can see,
Playing and laughing in the sunshine
Just my baby boy and me.
(Verse 3)
My soul feels so empty
Nights are filled with loneliness,
I remember the day
That I gave you one last kiss.
(Verse 4)
I had to say goodbye
My eyes were filled with tears,
I’ve thought of you every day
After all of these long years.
(Chorus)
When I close my eyes
It’s you, I can see,
Playing and laughing in the sunshine
Just my baby boy and me.
(Verse 5)
I was sitting in the kitchen
Had pictures of you in front of me,
I have often wondered
If you ever knew about me.
(Verse6)
Then there was a knock at the door
I couldn’t believe my eyes,
It was you, standing before me
I broke down and cried.
(Chorus)
When I close my eyes
It’s you, I can see,
Playing and laughing in the sunshine
Just my baby boy and me.
(Verse 7)
Thinking back to that day
When I was so young,
Having to give you up
My only, newborn son.
(Verse
We sat and talked for a while
Then you had to go,
I whispered in your ear
“There’s something, you should know.”
(Chorus)
When I close my eyes
It’s you, I can see,
Playing and laughing in the sunshine
Just my baby boy and me.
