Money and Online Writing: How Long Can Triond Keep Publishing?

Of course, everything I’m about to write is speculation, but often speculation is all an online writer has to base a decision on.

First let me state that I plan to stay with Triond to the bitter end.

It is around 9:00 AM in Pittsburgh.  The high temperature today is suppose to be only in the 70s.  I got some window washing done yesterday and the night was cool so I slept better.  Now on to the business of the day.

Hello, my brother and sister online writers.  By now we all know that content farms like Triond have taken a rankings hit and traffic is down.

I have investigated other content farms, but all of them put restrictions on what you write.  For good or evil, Triond is a writing free for all.  And I like that.  I don’t want to have to pick a subject or a title and turn out copy that fits.  I have a need to write about exactly what I want to write about, no questions asked.

I have no doubt that is how many writers feel about Triond.

I also am convinced that I will get better at using Facebook, Twitter, my blog, catchier titles and SEO to drive a steadily increasing amount of traffic to my content.

I have no idea if Triond will stay in business; but if Triond has, oh let’s say, 50,000 writers from which Triond makes a profit of $2.00 from each writer a month, that is a gross income of $100,000 a month for Triond.  And because Triond seems to be fully automated, three or four computer geeks can probably run Triond.

So, Triond has to make a profit for these computer geeks and maybe a couple of investors.

The question for us content writers is, will $1,200,000 a year be enough to keep these people from pulling the plug?  Only time will tell.

Here are a couple of flash fiction stories for your reading pleasure: The Last Nude Photos and Girls Kissing Girls.

I like one thing about what you said beforehand: Sticking in until the end. As to whether Triond may survive the search engine heat, I think it is more about whether writers will survive the pinch rather than Triond. When views go down, earnings go down as well but more for writers than for Triond. I have noticed a certain restructuring in earnings and may release a statement soon. By the way, Triond had 200,000 users at one time but the guys who actually do some regular writing like you and me could be a paltry 1000 or so. Believe me.

And by the way, I have been studying Triond for the past two years. If the site goes down, I will buy it. Hopefully I can convince my bankers and some few friends to finance this awesome venture.

great write here. Yes, internet is so huge and strong that Triond can be sustained. Jimmy, if you are going to buy Triond, I can be one of the investors :)

I personally have little doubt that Triond will survive. I think there are enough good writers committed to it that if we lose some of the others the ratings will actual go up.

My eyes are burning – it’s 70 degrees there and 85 here and climbing. But, I won’t hold it against you, Guy. Very nice read. At over $1 million, I don’t see them going anywhere any time soon. :)

I’m with you on liking sites where I can write what I want to.
@ Jimmy: I may have a few dollars to invest. :)

I too will be here until the end. But I have not seen a drop in my income, in fact it has increased. While I am happy with my earnings I am not sure how I am doing it. I only write about six articles or stories a month. It’s all I have time for. Glad your temps are lower and you slept better.

I tend to agree with Jimmy on the number of people who actually write regularly and (or) bring Triond at least those $2 of profit a month. I have 147 referrals and 10% of their earnings brings me only 10-30 cents a month (most months anyway) so those 147 people make only some $1-3 alltogether in 30 days from views. As far as I know Triond goes 50:50 with writers (at least regarding adsense, I guess it is the same with views money). That would mean $1-3 from those 147 people. I doubt the total adsense earnings they bring to Triond are much higher (probably even lower) than that. Anyway, since Triond seems to be fully automated, I guess those 3 or 4 computer geeks would not have to work full time all month long :)

Anyway, I have no idea how much profit they could be making a month or in a year’s time, but I sure hope Triond will not go down, at least for the next few decades.

    Good article btw.

I agree Guy most long term Triond writers such as you and me have seen the changes my hits are just over 50% down since the search engines spat the dummy out over content farms! Triond being the lowest in quality overall of the farms must be feeling the pain? I too think its 50/50 whether Triond will pull the plug?

Damn laptop! There must be such small margins of profit that the search engines could have done enough damage to switch the lights off Triond. LB

I follow the reasoning put forward. I would place the Adsense earnings a little higher though, at about 1:3, views earnings:Adsense earnings.

I used to make at least $70 Dollars a month from Triond before the SEO update by Google, now i make around $25 Dollars, i stopped writing for about a month and a half because of this but now I am determined to get back up to not only 70 USD a month but $300, personally I think that the worst part is over and we can get on our feet once again.

Well, I think Triond will last long. First, there are lots of people who are feeling interested in these things, especially because Triond has a very minimum payout. Second, it’s not only about content farm, but also about a community. So, as a writer and a person, I think Triond could fulfill all my needs from a media. I believe lots of people feeling the same way too. This means there are lots of Triond’s users and there will be more to come. Third, as there are lots of interested people, this means Triond has a large amount of troops (in this case, online writers), who keep fighting towards the flood of information. Since these troops could use any kind of weapon, targets, and bullets (which means any kind of topic and most strategies), the ‘range’ of interests that could be covered and unique keywords could be caught. People out there are keep hunting for hot keywords, while actually, hunting for unique keywords sometime could be very beneficial as well.
