Improve your writing

Make Each Article You Write a Pleasure, Not a Chore

The more you enjoy your writing, the more other people enjoy reading it.

Writing should be a pleasurable activity, even when you need to make money from it. The more enjoyable you find the activity, the easier it becomes and the more fluently your writing flows. Your pleasure shines through your words and others enjoy reading what you write.

Just imagine waking up each morning thinking you have to get a piece of writing done today. Many people write because they have to. They have to feed their family, or any other of a number of reasons. But they are still able to enjoy writing and feel thankful they have the opportunity and skills to write.

Some online content writers lately have been allowing resentment to interfere with the quality of their writing. They don’t believe they are being paid what they deserve. They don’t think readers appreciate their work enough. These writers are turning writing into a chore for themselves and it shows in their work. Readers can sense when writing becomes a chore for you.

Now imagine waking up in a positive frame of mind. It is a new day and all sorts of wonderful things are happening around you. You mentally decide when you can make time to write and trust that by then you’ll have something to write about. During the day your mind acts like a writer looking forward to the task ahead. By the time your allocated writing time arrives you can’t wait to get started. Your pleasure in writing takes control.

Once you allow yourself to think in a negative way about your writing, ungrateful readers and publishers, unfair writing sites or even the whole writing world in general, you attract more of those negative thoughts and experiences.

Change that around and think about how your writing is improving with everything you write. Imagine you are attracting more readers and your earnings are slowly increasing. Feel happy about the work you’re producing. Feel grateful for the feedback you’re receiving. Soon you’ll start noticing improved statistics in both the number of views and your earnings.

If you’re not currently receiving pleasure from your writing, maybe it is time to take a break. Surround yourself with activities you enjoy more. Someone told me once, when I was moaning about something, nobody owes you anything Val. It’s all up to you.

So fellow writers, it is up to you. Be thankful for your writing skills and the opportunities online sites give us all to improve. Be thankful that you have a place to experiment with the thing you love doing most, writing. Enjoy writing about things that bring you pleasure. Show us all your pleasure in your writing.

Very true. When you start to lose your passion for writing, then the rest is just downhill from there.

Well said. I wake up every morning eager to turn on the computer and see if I have new comments or messages, read what my friends have posted, read some articles from other sites…by the time I get around to thinking about what I will write today, it is usually time for lunch. Or 4 in the afternoon, like today when all I’ve written for myself so far are a couple of emails.

I have to say there are some clients who make writing a chore but, in most cases I see the writing itself as pure joy or an incredible challenge for my writing skills that I am eager to tackle.

Ahh such inspiring words from one of my favorite Triond writers. This is just what I needed for today. You are right, we must not force ourselves like it’s a chore to be done. It does show in the quality of the article. Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. :-)

I totally agree Val I have read your work since I started here. Dont take this the wrong way but as I have followed your work I do know that on ocassion you sound off too! Only recently your were moaning about other writers grammar? is that not a negative thought? Concentrate on your work. Triond will publish anything from anybody even articles in pigeon English that makes not one word of sense is published. I wrote short stories for pleasure before Triond and I will after. Take care LB

Great article – I think that if a writer is passionate about or interested in the topic they’re writing about, it will show through very clearly in their work.

This is so true, if you write an article, a reader can tell if it is written out of a state of stress, compared to joy. Thank you for sharing.

    agree with you Val.
Writtem by someone who has no pleasure in writing, it’s no difference from writings by a robot. As a poor reader like me, have to torture further, I will either faint or feel nausea, can I choose not to read them, of course I can, so you see, this particular writer will lose one good supporter like me (talk like big deal here, me).

Yes. Positive frame of mind. This I need to train myself to enjoying things. I enjoy writing like you do. I agree that having this passion to write is a blessing because not everyone could effectively put their thoughts into words.

I love writing. Sometimes it flows and sometimes it doesn’t. Maybe the it’s the nature of the beast? I also find that I write better at certain times of the day. Early mornings and late afternoons are best for me. What say you?

Again Val hit the nail on the head with this article. I love writing and equally enjoy reading. These two activities fill my mind’s appetite for expression. While I am no scholarly author, I do think I am a fairly good story teller and I love to share my experiences with those who appreciate them. I know too, I have never been disappointed in your work.

Wow I started reading and writing as longest I have been around. I was always the first one to ask the teacher to read out loud she also ask me to write on the board, I would volunteer to do this for her. At the time I was in the fourth grade. Right now I write and read every day, plus I write in my journal. I need to know my strength so I can write for the public more. I appreciate this article it will keep me motivated. Thanks! Val for the insight. It\’s a pleasure for me to write every day I start every morning before I get dress sometimes, and before I go to bed I want to get better with my grammar and punctuation. I enjoy reading and writing tremendously.

I totally agree with you.. but sometimes people who write to make money focus on the money not on the writing and forget to make quality points in their article. they should make money in writing. You get it?

    I know, I don’t to… LOL… but great article.:)
