Kc’s Take on Motivation

What a great thing to have friends to inspire us to write.

Most of us lack motivation at one point in time or another.  Me, myself, I’m usually very good at being a motivator for others, but when I get in a slump, what do I do?  Where do I turn?  Who is going to help me?

I started by defining motivation.  Motivation is a set of reasons that determines one to engage in a particular behaviour.  If you are anything like me, that didn’t help.  Sure I know what motivation means, but my problem is not the lack of knowledge, it’s the lack of know-how.

So I then hit the internet.  There is a ton of information on the internet on any subject imaginable.  Because there is a ton of information I, myself, get frustrated.  Anyone with me?  So I found something easy that spoke to me that I would like to sum up for you.  It’s really as easy as one, two, three.  Start with a dream, create goals to reach that dream, and have objectives to reach your goals.  This will enable you to fulfill your dream.

For example, my husband and I have a dream to reach Financial Freedom.  We have set two goals thus far to help us obtain that dream.  Goal number one:  To have an emergency fund of $1,000.00.  Goal number two:  To have no credit card debit.  Our number one, and most important objective to reaching both of these goals is to attend a Financial Peace University class taught by Dave Ramsey.  Our other objectives are to think before we buy, create a budget and stick to it, work together at reducing our credit card debt to zero by applying principles we have learned from Dave Ramsey.

After writing it down, one tends to feel more motivated about their dream.  I know it did for me.  I see that if my husband and I keep working at our objectives, our goals will be reached, and our dream will be fulfilled.

I would like to leave you with one more peace of motivation that spoke right to my heart.  What better place can you look to find information you need on any topic?  The Bible!

Philippians 3:12-13

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Brothers, I don not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do:  Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
