Are You Serious about Journalism? Is it your passion? Then this is a must read!
Dear readers, I have been reading up on the subject of article submissions. Every aspiring journalist wants their writings to reach the best possible audience. Previously I wrote about finding your niche in the journalism world. I want to tell people about some great opportunities that would definitely benefit the serious journalist.
I recently came across this http://ldaley.wordpress.com/2008/05/11/eight-magazines-that-pay-1-a-word-for-articles/ while seeking out opportunities. Some websites are great for building your journalistic portfolio, but sometimes a little research is required to make a serious go of it. Seeking out opportunities will pay off in the long run if you’re diligent, smart, and ethical about it.
To me, the informative nature and quality of the work is far more important than “getting rich quick”. I mentioned in previous articles that if getting rich quick is your goal, you are in the wrong field. Do you however want to reach people with thought provoking useful, information rich material? Then you are definitely in the right field.
As mentioned in the above link, there are many well known, celebrated magazines seeking writers. Do not ever say to yourself, “they’d never accept my work” because if you do, you are sure to miss an opportunity. For the serious journalist, the opportunity to publish in a widely reknown magazine, or even better becoming a regular contributor to these reknown magazines is the blessing of a lifetime.
I wish all my colleagues the best on their journey to journalistic success.
God Bless.

Great. Even the most accomplished journalists start somewhere.

A very good post! Thanks very much for including the link to my blog, Words into Print. I’ve been a freelance writer for 30 years and I started the blog to share some of the things I’ve learned about writing and getting published, and to offer encouragement to others writers. You, too, are offering encouragement and that’s a very good thing. Thank you!
