Is Triond Brag a Bad Idea

I have calculating and come to some interesting conclusion on what might cause some frustration among Triondeers. Many are upset about their earnings and I presume that all those who feel some are whiners, should consider themselves. I get a feeling some here are exaggerating their earnings to brag on others.

Lately somebody at the forum told me he had some articles that paid him 50 dollar a month. Personally I have been calculating. On average you need about 1000 views to get 1 dollar on Triond.

If that person might be publishing in more earning categories, let’s say he makes 5 dollar of 1000 views, because has good ads on it. That would mean 10 000 views a month. It would make over 300 views a day.

I am not saying this is not possible, but I do notice that less recent content might become less earning in time.

Lately I read somebody who has 500 good quality articles on Triond, that make about 1600 views a month. She claims that earns her about 150 euro a month.

I prefer to believe her more than the person that claims to make so much money from having few, good written articles on line.

If you ask me, I think that all those braggers, claiming to make much money on Triond are not such a great idea, because they might attract all the desperados here who think they can make a great income here.

And strangly it are those “quality” writers that look down on those who complain about their earnings. Are they forgetting maybe how they started here?

Somebody claimed Triond better than Helium, since that site takes rankings and only some lucky good writers take all the money. I believe this is so on all writing sites. Or better said: web publishing machines.

Some make much money and some don’t. But some are in for the money, some for the fun of writing.

Consider it this way: if I would keep all my writings in a drawer and do nothing with it, I would not get anything for it and I would not get any feedback to improve.

Now I do get feedback and I am improving. This is priceless and that is why web writing is earning. Dollars and cents can be earned elsewhere, especially for academics.

Keep that in mind and do not judge that your articles might be better because they get more views. Leave that up to the public. I do not need to brag or attention whore. Who does not want to read my work, does not have to.

I rather have a not so much, but happy readers, than thousands, who might just zap on your article, but make you think they read it and loved it. Getting much views and few comments might also mean that some do not even bother to go to the bottom of the page.

I get a lot of comments and few more views. That inspires me to keep writing and I do not mind saying some might have more talent, better earnings and greater articles than mine. Instead of getting frustrated and jealous about that, I just put my feet under the table, enjoy reading them and learn.

So be realistic: Triond will never pay your bills, but if you love writing, it is worth staying around.

Here! Hear you! How true about this and other people writing in triond. You have written what I truely believe about Triond and other sites like these. I also I think it is Luck on picking the right topic at the right time etc… that people are interested in.
Thank you for voicing what I have been thinking along. I been writing here for over a year. it is the people like you that leave me comments that make me feel good. I may not be the best writer but I do enjoy it and fills in the gaps when I am bored etc.

I totally agree with you. I am certainly not on Triond for the money but for the enjoyment of writing, reading and commenting on the work of others. A good post.

    @Martine,
I don’t know who had bragged about 50 dollars on the forum, but I remember my recent comment on one of your article which I definitely thought that you would consider as a brag or a spam. Here is that comment for reference it anyway.

I was only giving good information that you may never get to learn before quitting writing for Triond. Although I wrote the first article in the comment after many experiments and learning, writing for three hours of time, it did not earn many views against my expecations for what it was worth. I ignored it thinking if it did it would help people a lot, but who are taking any time to reciprocate with a comment. Very few are doing. So I never promoted it. Once in a while some do reciprocate, may be because they could understand and had time and wanted to thank heartfully.

There is a saying “History repeats but the participants change every time”. I have seen many triond writers writing articles like the ones you have been writing this week, since years. Every time, they write an article for every little thought they get about page views. Of course, you do write on other topics as well. But as you write about page views, earnings it means that you are also interested in earning well from articles at Triond. The trend is that the writers change but they keep writing these kind of articles year after year.

Triond is definitely better than Helium. Helium’s ranking case is not the same case on all sites. At Triond you have the basic freedom to do whatever you want, to write and improve your article’s views. There are very less constraints here. You may notice the hot content lists and think they are the best earners here. I do not care a cent for the hot content list which is, though different from Helium’s ranking, in effect has a similarity that is to create competition but for a thin chance, as only 10 articles can fit the list at any time.

As I look back one of the articles gives a vague clue on how some articles do well at Triond, consistently which is something out of logic for newcomers here. I don’t like the idea of bragging about which will not help anybody, not even myself.

Some people do make good money here. But, it takes time and I am willing to bet these people have an excellent social networking system and their work gets stumbled alot which can really jump the views and keep them high if the article is popular. That being said, I have some articles I think are excellent that rarely get a view and others that I think are not so hot that have made good money.

I am not so interested on the money or the view here on Triond because of the income but simply because I am interested in experimenting to see how they can be increase.

I am with you, martie. It dazzles my mind to see which of my articles are being read most and so far boosting them on social networks … mine is not so large. This might be a handicap, or also something that might need time to grow.

I noticed these people too Martine. Somebody said he earns more than a dollar a day. When I got to see his article curious in finding what makes them work, those articles, sorry to say, are not really quality content. I’m wondering how could it be. The only conclusion is he is not telling the truth.
I tried to write in Factoidz to see if it performs well as veteran Triond writers say. With just six articles I accumulated more than 500 views, equal to more than two dollar income in just four days since I joined. I don’t know if this trend will continue but recently, I noticed the views have slowed down. Because of this, I have many questions in my mind. I am unsure yet how I should describe the site but apparently, this site is promising.

I’m still a firm believer in quality writing. These people who claim high earnings per article must have a huge social network and/or a catchy title that pulls people in – like ‘I earn $50/day writing articles’ etc. A title like that usually has me clicking on it to see what they do differently. Usually its nothing different than my articles – just the title.
I keep writing knowing I will never retire on my Triond income. The comments and my ‘friends’ writing keep me motivated and I know I am becoming a better writer with every article.
Keep writing and enjoy the experience.

Only a few articles make good money. I have 3-4 articles that garner more page views everyday than the most recently written article. But were those articles written better than the others? Not necessarily. There can be several reasons for their performance: topics that people are always looking for, for example. Articles like how to get into hot list, how to comment, whether to comment, how to make more money… they get more hits. But people who write on such topics have hardly provided any better insight, and one gets tired of these for wasting time.
