Is It Wise to Keep Writing for Writing Sites?

I have already written over 250 articles on Triond. When I started to write for Triond a year ago I had avid interest to post my creations on this site. The page views I got that time and the money I could generate from my Triond articles at that time were not that bad when compared to my current page impressions and earnings. Nevertheless things began to change a lot at Triond particularly after the Google panda updates and today I am beginning to think whether it’s really wise to write for writing sites Triond in particular. Please keep reading….

Earning scope for writing on writing sites: I knew very well that I could never become rich overnight writing online. I was also aware of the fact that no one can make big money by writing for sites like Triond.  Then why did I start writing for the writing sites? I always love to write and share my views with others. No wonder I began to write online. I thought I could improve my writing skills and my English by writing on writing sites like HubPages and Triond. Of course making a few bucks online is another objective of my writing on writing sites. I believed I could make a few dollars if I wrote 100 plus articles on Triond. Nevertheless my Triond earning has dropped heavily for the past few months especially after the Google panda updates. It’s so disappointing to note that my 50 plus republished Triond articles at Experts Column are making more money than my 300 plus articles here on Triond. Moreover Triond recognizes only a few of its favorite writers. You get no money and no recognition, and then what’s the use in posting all your articles here? In my opinion, no writing site is worth spending your precious time.  We need to accept the fact that only a very few writers are making decent money even at Hubpages and Squidoo.  Making huge money from writing sites is like building castles in air. The sites you are writing for would certainly grow by the hard work you put into along with thousands of other writers.

Is it worth to keep writing for the writing sites? In my opinion it’s not at all worth to write for writing sites for long periods. May be it’s useful to sharpen your writing skills. But it’s not wise to spend your valuable time substantially on these sites for long periods. Instead you can start your own blog and keep posting your articles there consistently.  You can also make money from freelance writing jobs. At the same time you can keep in touch with Triond and post a few articles here every month to ensure your old articles generate some revenue every month passively.

Summary: If you want to improve your English and writing skills, you can write for the writing sites for some time. However I think it’s not wise to continue spending your entire time in writing for writing sites. Instead you can post one or two articles occasionally on your favorite writing sites. It’s highly sensible to start your own blog after being active on a writing site for quite some time. It’s my opinion and I know opinion differs. Thanks for reading.

Wow. This is exactly the question I’ve been asking myself today.

I agree with you. It’s not worth it and besides, they’re selling our articles without our consent. My adsense account was closed recently for invalid activity. What invalid activity? I have never clicked an ad during my time on Triond. Google is where most of my views as well as earnings were coming from. I was very close to the $100 threshold needed to earn my first check. Well, I won’t allow these advertisers to gain one more cent from my articles. This is why I don’t write for triond anymore. Hub-pages is not all that great either. They have their set of strict rules and regulations as well.

I have also deleted every single one of my articles. I have no regrets my friend. I’m moving on to bigger and better things.

I believe that Triond should do better as far as payout goes. Many writers feel useless and angry because they are not seeing the results they hoped to see. I love writing but would like to earn more than a few cents for my work. I just don’t know what else to do!

This is something we all have been thinking lately, especially, those who have put their time in and don’t see much appreciation or reward. I, personally, am thinking of other ways to spend the time and energy that I have invested into writing online for Triond and others.

I think your personal goals were met – your English is excellent and so are you writing skills.

Vijayanths, I believe it is still possible to do very well but it depends on which site you are on. JCMayer777 made $2,800 US last November on Infobarrel. See infobarrel.com/blog/category/infobarrel-success-stories/
He even co-authored a highly-rated ebook on techniques to use on Infobarrel. However, most of his success came from Adsense earnings. There are also sites that pay you for articles upfront like Wisegeek and Brighthub and About.com. I hear they pay very well if Paypal is functional in your country. I can’t imagine why Triond writers never mention those three sites although they pay very well and are reputable sites. I think the key to Expertscolumn is that you need 1000 articles and your revenue will start showing some promise. I am new there so I will see how things go but it certainly gets much more views than the very same articles on Triond!

I consider my Triond earnings to be a supplement to my retirement fund. What I get out of it is the social buzz from exchanging views with and encouraging other Triond authors.

hi, LoveDoctorGoodBye I am shocked at your decision. I know how hard it is to remove the articles you wrote with passion. How much time you would have spent on posting them. I am sure you will do well I wish you continue here.

Sad Google deletes too many accounts of Triond users. Thousands of Internet users are losing faith in Google as it suspends accounts when the publishers reach the Payout and keeps their money.

I am sure you will do well at wherever you go and will get the recognition you deserve. Good luck my dear friend.
    Please keep in touch.

You are absolutely right Tiki33. Triond is a good site but they are so reluctant to make changes and improve the site. This time it has become a serious issue as our earnings dropped heavily.

Hi, shelpeare I always admire your analysis on various topics especially about online writing and revenue generated by it.

I do agree with you one or two persons are making huge money. I am talking about thousands of Triond writers who put in so much hard work and earn negligible money every month.

Even those who are making thousand dollars per month at HubPages and Squidoo would earn more if they have their own blogs and take freelance writing jobs.

Yes, mphsglo You said it so well. I believe my English is improving with every Triond article. I will remain grateful to Triond for it.

When I began writing online last year I thought I could earn more money (I was already earning decent money as a writer for newspapers). A year later I learned, I cannot become millionaire, but I can grow rich with international readership. Who knows one day a real publisher finds me.

The truth can hurt, but I already knew this going in. I’m just not yet ready to start my own blog website, but when I am…then I will. For now though I’m enjoying the information I find on triond.
