Here are a few inspiring thoughts to help us online writers stay focused and keep doing two of the things we love most – writing and publishing.
The Internet has paved a way for aspiring writers to realize their dream of becoming published and being read. Freelance writing opportunities abound for those who wish to engage in this endeavor within the cyber world.
But online writing can be very competitive and taxing. And it can take its toll on many of us who aspire to carve and keep a thriving niche in the online writing industry. To avoid burnout and discouragement, we need to be able to cope well with the demands of this writing endeavor we have come to know and enjoy.
Here are a few inspiring thoughts to help us stay focused and keep going.
Remember and affirm your love for writing.
If writing is a passion you could not live without, then affirm your love for it as often as possible. It is so easy to get sidetracked and disillusioned that if you’re not careful, you’d find complacency replacing your passion.
You are a writer.
Even if you have no formal writing education, if you love to write and are being paid for your writing, you are a writer. And as one, you need to write. You have a responsibility to voice out what needs to be said. You have the talent to express what others might find hard to do so. You have a flair for knowing what to write about and the skills to put them into words.
You have a privileged responsibility.
As a writer, your well-chosen words have the power to teach, to influence, and to inspire. Your voice is capable of shedding light to truth, use it wisely. Your words can either build or break a topic, and even a life, choose them responsibly. You have the privilege to introduce something and to promote anything, uphold it with integrity and dignity.
Be a source of inspiration to children.
Children nowadays have easy access to online information. Never overlook that fact, nor exploit it to corrupt or negatively influence kids. Instead, make use of it to instill good values in children and to inspire them to become better persons. When publishing something, always bear in mind that children can easily read your publications. Be responsible therefore in your choice of topics and use of words to express them. Most often than not, your voice can be taken as authority on a certain subject, so ensure that its impact on your readers will not be negative, as it can be disastrous.

You are a human being above all.
Do not allow success to make you forget that. You may be basking in the glory of popularity across the cyberspace, but you will always be just the voice behind a written fact or truth. Do not let fame bloat your sense of proportions nor distort your concept of humanity. Keep your feet strongly grounded and your head clearly tuned to what’s right and true.
We online writers may have varied reasons for writing. But upon consideration, it all boils down to the fact that we want our silent voices to be heard, and our words to be read. Let us therefore write and publish with utmost sincerity, integrity and responsibility. To those who aspire to become online writers, may this give you something to lay your writing principles on. And to those who have already been writing and publishing, may this renew your initial passion for sharing ideas and information with integrity. Have a meaningful online writing experience, everyone.
