In Two Years Triond My Favourite Comment

It will be two years that I write for Triond. In that time I have published a few articles and received a few views. I also received many comments, but a recent one is the one I like best. This article is dedicated to all readers who take the time to comment.

Receiving comments about my articles is one of the things I enjoy most about writing. There are different kinds of comments, obviously, and not all of them are really enjoyable for one reason or another. But nonetheless, comments make writing much richer than just producing into a void.

My favourite comment is quite recent. I received it on my article San Marino: Oldest Republic in the World. It was posted by mark and read: great information! It was very usefull for a school work I had 2 months ago! Thanks! (sic)

Now that is a comment that really gave joy. As most of my articles are covering niche information, seeing that such information is useful for someone is what makes it worthwhile writing these articles. Mark is not a Triond writer and leaving the comment gave me a lot of satisfaction. It also convinced me that in the long run such articles will be read for a long time to come and bring a recurring income.

But in two years I had other comments. Unlike other Triond writers, I usually enjoy internet trolls; meanwhile they seem to know it and don’t bother with me anymore. But quite frankly, they were not amusing enough to spend more time on them than having a short laugh. I suppose that trolls don’t like amusement when they are the butt of the joke.

There are comments I ignore, I have to admit. I am sorry if I am offending anybody with what I say now, but it nothing but the truth. Comments like ‘nice share’, ‘good article’, or ‘well done’ don’t register with me nor do the names attached to them. I am sorry, but there is just nothing in them to draw my attention. Consequently, I don’t bother to leave such comments myself.

But there are many people leaving detailed and thoughtful comments. If I single out two of them here this doesn’t mean I appreciate the others in any way less. My favourite reads are the comments of Inna Tysoe. Her comments always go to the centre of the articles theme. More often than not, she pierces my carefully built bubbles of articles with a single sentenced. Her articles, by the way, are of equal quality; if you haven’t had the joy of reading them yet, visit her profile to find out.

And there are people who leave comments that make me smile over and over again. Such a commenter is SharifaMcFarlane. Her comments always draw on the comic of my themes and usually make me laugh out loud. And as everybody knows, laughing is good for your health.

If you are getting comments, take them seriously and take time to read them. Comments quite often inspire me to another article. And when you leave a comment on someone else’s article page, make it worthwhile reading.

I love comments too. It shows that people are actually reading, especially when they put detail into it, like commenting on their favorite part or quoting a line back.

I had several comments on highly emotional pieces I wrote that says nice story, very creative, good job or nice share. I rarely read there articles if they can’t even spend a few minutes on mine without racing to the bottom to show me they are there.

I enjoy comments that improve my credibility as a writer or maybe rethink my opinion on the subject. Thank you for sharing. Blessings always, Chris

P.S I guess it is difficult to show your loyal friends that you read their article if you don’t have much input to give.

I’ve read articles like this before, about quality comments, and I get it, I really do. But honestly, I am guilty of short comments like great article, because sometimes that’s exactly what I think when I get to the end. Besides, I swear I can spend some time composing a nice and thoughtful comment, only to get an error message when I try to submit. My newest solution, if I really like something, I like it on facebook. Sometimes I stumble, occasionally I tweet, but I am a facebook junkie. I also read a lot of links from there. So, by all means, squirrel away this comment, but remember, I like you on facebook! : )

*MY* all-time favorite comment was from Duff D. Moss, on this image:

    Starbucks Coffee Mug

-just a stupid photo of my coffee cup with some frothy coffee with chocolate swirls in it, sitting on an IKEA cork planter, he wrote the following:

“I wasn’t quite sure what you were trying to say at first but now I see that you are saying that the cup is no where near half full, but in fact is nearly brimming with warm sweet opportunity. Additionally, once the cup is brimming with potential and joy then the world, represented by the crappy cork mat, is at your feet. The Starbucks is a representation that the creative writer confident that their well is full and never ending can reach for the stars, buck the trends and write about universal enlightenment.”

    Two years! Congrats.
I know the kind of comments that you get half the time would get marked spam on an other site. Some make no sense at all. Still its good to know that some articles actually do help people.

It’s been a long time when you were first connected with triond! Hmm well, it is expected that you already have thousand of comments to compare with. Thank you for sharing this.

Two years in Triond, that’s awesome. Sometimes, I too leave comments like Gr8 share, but not too often. As you said, I too feel elated when I receive a comment from a non-Triond member; this doesn’t mean I don’t take comments from triond members seriously. When a comment is received from a non-Triond member it gives me a satisfaction that I had taken a beautiful niche that is useful for everyone.

@Heather Dawn: It happens to me, too; there is sometimes a flunk in the comment section; and I do as you do, facebook it :)
@thestickman: that one is just too precious!!!
@all: yes, two years; and it was two years full of fun and learning and I am sure there is more to come thanks to you lot!

I agree with the ignoring of ‘nice share’ etc. Although I appreciate that they take the time to visit my article and give it a comment, it is most likely that they didn’t even read it, but just want me to read their articles.

I read all the comments I get, and I used to respond to them as well. But I realised most people don’t return to my article to see if I had replied, so I stopped doing that.

I loved reading this article, thank you for sharing.

Sigh. I hope I get enough views that I could actually read comments on my articles/poetry. Oh well. I’ve only been here a week T_T
