I too am all for adding dialect pieces to a film script and think that if some people are unaware of speaking the real language base, they won't care much about using a dialect in its place. Clearly this is not an all or nothing situation since others could be quite concerned that they have picked up a dialect instead of the main language base. People are entitled to their choices and they should always be accepted because language do change over time as do dialects. Slang should not be confused with dialects, that is a different language form.

Hi. many thanks go to you for sheding the light on the importance of spelling. Am intrested in investigating students spelling errors, especially EFL learners. So Spelling is the soul of words ,sentences, and texts.

Hi Ecrivan! A very interesting article - I agree, the importance of correct spelling seems to be decreasing in the recent times of 'text-speak' and increasing slang language, and I also agree with your stress of the need for correct spelling in introduction letters and summaries. However, I do believe there is a certain amount of atmosphere to be gained in a ficional piece by reflecting dialect in spelling when the writer has knowledge of the accent and social language of a particular area. Take Trainspotting or Beloved for example. But can dialect be inferred by someone who has not experienced the language first hand? A very interesting discussion topic! I hope you don't mind, I have added you as a friend and will continue to enjoy your work! - Lauren
