Staying calm is essential to the writing process.
Often times one is taken up in writing for some purpose –whether it be school related, work related, or simply for pleasure. A major issue with many writers is the risk of getting frustrated with what has been written on the page. Sometimes writers just do not feel what they’ve written is “good enough” to be read, published, or graded. These feelings often lead to frustration, and frustration to giving up and failure in your task. There is a way, however, to succeed in writing and to not get upset or frustrated. I will attempt to list the necessary steps in as succinct a manner as possible.
1. Don’t be afraid: There is nothing to fear in writing, period. Especially when you are the one writing. Let your creativity stretch its wings and grow if you’re writing for entertainment purposes. Don’t stifle yourself. Allow the words to flow through you as you are thinking them up.
2. Be bold in your writing: Unleash your full potential. Try various styles of writing (first person, third person, omniscient, etc.) until you find one that is comfortable for you to use.
3. Do not look back: Try not to read what’s been written just after you write it. Write everything down first, then leave the finished product for a couple of days. When enough time has elapsed for you to be able to take a fresh look at your work, go ahead and look. Chances are you’ll be less hard on yourself once your mind has had time to recuperate from the writing process. Edit what you think needs to be fixed and leave the rest as is.
4. Let someone else read it: Let someone you trust to give you a good and honest critique read your work. If it’s good work, they’ll tell you, if not, then you’ll know you need to work on some areas, but do not be disheartened. Failure is the first step to success, and you measure the strength of your success by the number of failures you’ve overcome. Every criticism and every word of praise you get for your work helps you on your journey to becoming a writer!

Your article is uplifting. New to writing, I find myself, sometimes thinking faster than I can get it down on the paper. Fear of making mistakes. Great article.

Writing is a way to express yourself. It doesn’t have to reflect your personality. Be someone different. Be bold, sexy or anything you are not in real life. Great article.
