This article is a look at how sometimes people just leave comments for the sake of it. Do you just comment or do you read before commenting?
I recently submitted an article with a question in it. The article is: Seo Techniques Can Kiss My Bee-hind!
I actually included the question to get a response and understand how most writers deal with SEO exhaustion. I was curious to know if inclusion of SEO bored some writers, or if it was just me. Some of my friends use SEO without making an attempt, as I could make out from the comments. This I think is great and I learnt something.

Read articles and then comment, please
Some of the comments I received on that article are kind of funny. It made me realize what I had known for a while. Several people just comment for the sake of commenting. It makes me laugh and almost gag. LOL.
What I don’t understand is when a person visits a page, how long does it take to read the article? I mean, I for one don’t ever ‘not read and comment’. Even if I write ‘good info’ as a comment, I read the article. If someone has asked a question in the article, I would answer it.
This just made me laugh. No offence to anyone. I can understand that people may not get time to read and then comment, but in a hope to increase page visits this is what they do. But I think it is important to realize- what goes around, comes around.
All of us put in effort to get our works published. I think it is only fair that we read articles and not pretend. But that is just me, I am not sure about what others feel. I wonder what comments I would get for this one.haha
Sorry, if I am too candid. I don’t want to hurt anyone. All I want is for people to know, it gets way too apparent when you don’t read and just comment. LOL
Love, peace and Respect to one and all!

I believe lot of people actually read articles. Those who don’t read articles and comment at least view page at some point of time they might like the content and read it too.

Hey abhishek,
When people read and do not comment, that is totally OK. But when people DO NOT read and then comment, it just gets apparent. That is all I am trying to say. As I said, no offence to anyone

Good one Rox, I think people should read as its a great way to learn something new and find out what makes a good publication, its fair enough that people may have limited time but it always makes my feel really good if my article has actually been read. I so love it when I get comments from outside triond, LOL…even if they are sometimes rude and nasty!:-)

HA HA rox gud work well i wud rather not comment if i find the article average,n if i do comment i wud rather read it twice some times to grasp the feel of the content.(as i know how much efforts some put in their work).bye n tc.

I can understand why some people maybe don’t read the articles thoroughly, especially when pressed for time and there are a lot of pieces to read, but I do think we make the effort to read as best we can. I certainly try to.

I think it’s important to read the article or poem and should give comment after that. I know without lots of people don’t read properly and post comment. It’s disappointing for the writer, no doubt.
November 25th, 2009 at 9:50 am
Although you make some very valid points, there are several writer on this network, and so many articles. Sometime one can’t spend a lot of time on one article, then they don’t get the chance to read and support others. So many people on this sight want outstanding praise and don’t even take the time to support the people that support them, I am sure when someone realizes this they will just by-pass that persons article. I am grateful for any comments I get and any viewers that I receive. Because without that I can’t make any of these pennies. Do you feel me.
November 25th, 2009 at 11:46 am
Well diamond, I just say, when someone comments, its good to read and comment. Else don’t comment at all.
November 25th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
It can be annoying for sure.
November 25th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
bet this article was on the money, just wish I’d had time to read it!
only kidding you make a very valid point here!!
November 25th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
I am in complete agreement with you on this subject Rox! lol I already wrote an article on this. You forgot to mention the copy and pasters the ones that say nothing more then great article, great poem. You get the drift, the two-three worders on everything. It is apparent they do not read either! Why people do this is beyond me because it does no one any good espcially the writer.Yes I gotta agree that was a good article to figure out who is the readers as you asked a question and even when I commented I saw a few write great write/ share. WTF? lol
You go girl!
November 25th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
You are bang on my friend…nothing is more blatant, ignorant and rude for someone to say “nice poem” in their comment at the end of an article…not a poem – an article. And I’m sorry, I don’t care if I offend anyone who does that…but I think I am safe to say that here, because if they ain’t reading the article, they ain’t reading the feedback comments and if they just happen to do so…Smarten Up.

I know Tan and Jimbo!
I had to write this coz I saw something rather sad!!
A person wrote “great info” on someone’s article. That article was actually the writer’s tribute to her MOM!!!
Can you imagine how hurt the writer must have felt. I thought that was really rude.

Please excuse my ignorance here as I’m a newcomer – what is SEO?

thanks for the share………

You see it on Myspace and Twitter etc. a lot… some people are like squirrels. But instead of hording nuts they horde ‘friends’. It’s something like an act of self aggrandisement; the number of friends being something of a status symbol. The more friends they gather… the more important they feel. One of the worst places I’ve been on for this sort of behaviour is Poemhunter.com, where they have a rating system. You get personal messages asking you to read work and rate it, and if you do they’ll do the same for you. Thing is, I’m not interested in people rating my work for the sake of reciprocation. You either like it or you don’t.
I’m actually working on a poem about this.
I second valmnz query as well… what is seo? (I could easily Google but I’m feeling lazy)

@ salaam- I have sent you a message regarding SEO & I agree with what you say.

This article awakens and reawakens the readers and the non-readers, the commenters and the quasi-commenters in members and non-members alike.
At the brighter side, I’d still appreciate the comments, whether it be “nice work,” “excellent,” “thanks for the share,” “good,” etc. It is still a view to my article, and am still thankful for the cents. LOL!

Sometimes I don’t understand an article, but I know that it had effort put into it, so I would just just click the Like button.

I agree with you PhoenixRox, and I like your username, especially if you are referring to Phoenix, Arizona. Anyway, I hope people read my articles and get something out of them. I try not to make them so lengthy that people will click out of them half way through, yet most great articles are not written in less than 300 words.
Just as some people write to read, many read to write. For those who write to read, more power to them because for those of us who write, reading comes pretty natural and it is through our writing that we become interested in reading more. For those who read to write, what awesome opportunities await the inspired soul. Ponder this, not only is it professional, respectful and educational to read other people’s posts, you can walk away feeling a sense of succession, you’ve done someone a great service, you’ve learned something you may not have previously known that can be shared with others, but you also gain inspiration to write your own pieces.
So to those who open the article and read the first line or two, maybe the first paragraph, and then comment without completing the article, let the words in this reply ring true for most of you from here on out. Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. Awww…reality of the golden rule.

I always read the articles before commenting on them. At the minimum, I skim through the article. I very thoroughly read 99% percent of what I comment on though. Beside that, I did enjoy your article.
December 2nd, 2009 at 2:25 am
Thank u all!!
December 2nd, 2009 at 4:05 am
Excellent one Rox. I’ve got few comments for my articles in another website that doesn’t have anything to do with the article. I’ve felt the same but didn’t thought of sharing it as an article. A very bold attempt.
December 8th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
You’re right. Most people may scan or not even read the article leading to off-the-topic or irrelevant comments.
December 12th, 2009 at 5:25 am
You know, it’s funny you should bring this up because they other day I wrote a very sad story on AC, and someone left me this comment:
What’s the smiley face for? Was one persons tragedy amusing? Then I decided to start snooping, and this person commented the smiley face on many other writers articles.
December 22nd, 2009 at 10:31 pm
LOL, this article really tickles me. Well, you are right about that point. It’s very easy to find out visitors who leave their “signature” without even bother reading the article. Just like you, it makes me gag as well. I once stopped by in a rant article, but then one of the comment said “nice info!”.
LMAO!
December 27th, 2009 at 7:55 am
Leaving a comment after reading the post is up to the reader. But of course, doing that should mean something for you (your content) and the person leaving the comment.
I’d rather not comment on how other people leave comments but whatever they post under their name is a reflection of how they are as a person.
December 29th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Comments are important and I think they are a reflection of the person leaving the comment. For that reason when I leave a comment I always read the article first and try to leave a comment that is relevant to the article.
