Put yourself in the viewer’s shoes first

Before you even start to write, think about the expectations of the reader from the article. Depending on what you are writing (for example, how to lose weight), what would the reader expect? If you can think of the requirements, you will be able to structure your article accordingly. For example, if you are writing an article on how to install a software, then the possible reader expectations would be clear steps, prerequisites, and steps to handle possible errors, for example.

The beginning is critical

If you are reading a book, how do you decide whether you want to read on or leave the book alone? If the introductory paragraph can set the context and grab your attention, then you tend to yearn for more and go on reading. The same applies to your article too. You need to remember that the introductory paragraph will either attract or deter the viewers from your article.

The online reader is impatient

A visitor to your website will typically scan, and not read the content. The visitor may be looking for certain key information and if you can provide the information quickly enough, you earn the viewership for some more time. However, if your article contains a lot of unnecessary information and is poorly structured, the visitor is going to scoot in a jiffy.

Each sentence must provide a unique value

Remember not to write more than one sentence with the same meaning (many writers do that to increase the article length). You must structure the article in such a way so that each line gives a new piece of information. Do not even attempt to engage the reader unnecessarily by playing with words—you will be found out soon.
