HOW TO GET PEOPLE TO LISTEN TO YOU WHEN YOU TALK OR WRITE

When we listen to prominent people talk we realise that we do so often timeS for our own sake, Which is to satisfy interest; even if in the end we get under climaxed. The question to ask now is  what sparks our interest at all?
There are a number of reasons why when begin to listen to a speech we cajole our minds to concentrate till the very end or begin a book and witness the last sentence. So here it is.

1.To be a successful speaker or writer select your words and arrange the parts of the sentence in a way that gives emphasis to important ideas. A very intelligent person once said’ideas vary in importance, expression of them should vary in emphasis’. This way even the shrewdest of businessmen would be forced to listen to your business proposal if one were a marketer. As a marketer or agent of any kind you are more than friends with your lips as they are so expedient to the business of talking, so that makes you a first class speaker, some way.

You can make emphasis by placing important words or ideas at the beginning or at the end of a sentence.Take a look at the two sentences below and judge the better of the two.

‘There was an underground blast that rocked the whole area.’
‘An underground blast rocked the whole area.’

Sincerely, the second sentence has got anyone’s adrenaline flowing where as the first sentence just has us saying lazily ‘really?’ when we should be asking with drama as it is with the first,’WHEN did this happen?’ The problem with the first sentence is that unemphatic words such a ‘there was’ begin the sentence. That is a very important position to be wasted on  a phrase we are not concerned about as the subject.

2.Aside from positioning ideas in sentences strategically, you can gain emphasis by repeating important words.Just read the extract below and tell me you don’t feel like a disciple of this speaker.

‘It is impossible to be simultaenously blasted by a revolution in energy, a revolution in technology, a revolution in family life, a revolution in sexual roles, and a world wide revolution in communications without also facing , sooner of later, a potentially explosive political revolution.’ Now ,do you still wonder why we listen to politicians when theY speak? I bet you do not.

3.Use active voice instead of passive voice. For example,
‘little attention is being paid to cheap nutritious foods by the average shopper.’ This sentence is unemphatic when you read the alternative: ‘the average shopper is paying little attention to cheap , nutritious foods.’

4. Take a deep breath in before every sentence you utter so you do not talk apologetically consciousy or otherwise. This will make your listener interested in what you have to say.He will believe you have confidence in yourself and what you are saying. This is why we listened to Barak Obama during his presidential campaign not just because he said he had good plans. After all every politian who needs your vote has to have one.
