This article discusses the popularity of the "how to" article.
The “how to” article is a very popular type of article. In a previous article, I discuss the basic techniques for writing a “how to” article. In this article, I discuss the popularity of the “how to” article, and why these types of articles attract so much traffic. The popularity of an article depends on several factors; however, one very important factor depends on the usefulness of the article. In short, if other people get a lot from the article, then it is sure to succeed. For example, many students and teachers want to know better techniques for essay writing, so I created several “how to” write essay formats. http://www.ehow.com/members/martinrojas-articles.html. These “how to” articles bring in more traffic for me than any other article I have ever written. For more reference, feel free to view one or two of my past “how to” articles, especially my writing guidelines. http://www.ehow.com/members/martinrojas-articles.html
The truth is, that everyone I have spoken to or written to all share the same opinion. I have heard so many people claim that their “how to “ articles do very well. Now do keep in mind, just writing any “how to” will not work. It needs to be something that either interests people, or something that people need to know more about. The “how to” article usually remains popular with people and traffic for months even years because most “how to” articles never get old. These type of articles are usually based on instructions that people will need for a lifetime, such as how to fix broken house hold items, how to stay healthy, how to write, how to repair your own cars, how to seek the best doctor or lawyer, etc. All of these are “how to” articles that will never grow old. The list is endless.
One the other hand, most other type of articles that deal with current news soon does grow old. Other articles that deal with pop culture also soon grow old. Articles that deal with other matters other than guidelines for various topics soon grow old. Trust me when I say the “how to” article is an excellent way to go and earn on going royalties. Since I have had the most success with “how to” articles, I may very well attempt to write more of these types of articles and see how well they do on Triond. If they do not succeed, I will be sure to report to my reader, and if they do succeed, I will also report to my reader. http://www.ehow.com/members/martinrojas-articles.html. They do seem to do pretty well on Wikinut.

Yes, I agree with you. “how to articles’ have a lasting appeal to the readers, unlike news and others which become stale after several days they are published.
