Having other writers take an interest in and read your work can prove much more valuable than just in accumulating a few views.
Recently I have been reading here in the Triond forum and on other site forum’s as well, that reading the work of other authors is not a good way to increase your writing income. With all due respect I beg to differ with the people who harbor this opinion.
While they do make a valid point when they point out that your articles need many views to make money and just getting views from other writers on whatever site you choose to write on is not going to increase your views dramatically they are overlooking the big picture.
For most beginning writers, getting other more experienced writers can not only help you improve your writing skills but does give you the first taste of success. I have been writing for several months now, and have noticed that my first views on each new site comes from other writers on that site.
Many times these viewers have given me important information that has helped me to navigate the site much quicker and to understand the politics and workings of these sites which in turn has helped me to increase my off sight views. The faster a writer can familiarize themselves with a site, the quicker they can start earning decent money.
Other times, readers on the site I am writing for have liked one or two of my articles well enough to promote that article for me which has resulted in my gaining a large number of outside views which definitely has helped my income.
I have also learned about other writing opportunities, through reading others writers works and have other writers contact me personally with opportunities to make money writing. In fact, just recently another writer on one of the other sites I am on recommended me to a freelancing site, that hires people whose work they have viewed which resulted in an offer to write for clients on their site.
Since this a by invitation only writing opportunity, I would never have had this chance without another writer seeing my work and recommending me to her employers. This opportunity just might lead to my being able to fulfill my desire of writing full time.
So, while it may be true that the views you get from other writers on any writing site may only be a drop in the bucket compared with the views you need to earn a decent income writing, they can prove invaluable in other more important ways.
Networking with other writers, is just one of the ways to promote your work, but it is one of the most valuable ways in my humble opinion.

I have recently joint a writers site for poets and other creative writers. No you can ‘t earn anything, but I can’t think of a better and cheaper way to promote than this. You can also put a link up where people can buy your stuff. http://worthyofpublishing.com It’s a user friendly site.

U said true Martie, networking with other writers is a great way to promote our work and to promote others work also…

You said it right.

I totally agree with you, Martie. Other writers teach you so much as well as giving your confidence a boost. A good article.

I agree with you… we need other writers help and support. A good and friendly network always helps.

I agree we need the help and support of our fellow writers. Good luck with the freelance offer.

Without a network a writer is not going to get very far. And when writers are a part of a writer’s network all sorts of opportunities will open up for that writer. Discounting the writers in a nerwork is very short sighted.

I find that networking sometimes is a chore, for sure with dial up it is anyhow!
But if you network with people who can offer good critisism (like pointing out errors or omissions) its for your benefit. I find strangers are less likely to be so considerate/sympathetic of errors.

Of the three sites I write on Triond has the best community though.

I agree with you Nelson, good criticism is very beneficial.

I don’t, but I try and read from as many people as possible. I like getting commons on what read. because that tells me what subjects to keep writing on.

I agree with you. This is especially essential for those who have just started writing. Without network, they won’t be able to learn from other experienced writers and hence will keep writing low-quality articles that will only give few views.

The best thing about Triond is the bonding between writers. Yes, they do add to each others’ strength.

Hello, I am very new to the site and would love the opportunity to network with other writers. Good advice.

True, it counts.

I find it rather strange, that those who call themselves writers, do not read!! ;0
I have had a valuable ego boost over the years at Triond. I do not write as much here now because of the workload I have on my plate. One of those things is thanks to a reader of my work here!
I got noticed and published. So those of you who do not want to read the work of others are missing out on some fantastic pieces of writing.

I agree totally. You need to have another writer’s input and I also love reading other writer’s stuff. I have not been on Triond for long but my views are already beginning to mount up and I’m having fun!

Perfectly said! I agree!

I completely agree with you! Before I made any friends on Triond, I published about 50 articles that were no where near the word ’success’ but now, I have so many friends that I can count on, who I know will give me the kind of feedback I’m looking for to hone my skills, and better still, you are getting the views. I think a good network is a kick start to success on Triond so I totally know what you are on about!
