How Much Money Can You Make From Triond?

This article contains full and frank details of just how much work it takes to earn so little.

I began to wonder just how many quality articles are needed to make a living from writing on Triond. I used to think that 500 would do the trick but with the way revenue has been dropping, it seems that even a thousand will still only bring pennies.

Many established writers have seen their revenue drop from hundreds of dollars per month, to what can only be described as an insulting token gesture. While I understand that Triond gets revenue from advertising and shares it with us as writers, I have started to have my doubts about how exactly this is being done.

I now have 535 reasonable quality articles on Triond pages. These get about 12000 hits per day between them, sometimes more. That’s 360,000 hits that I bring to Triond every month.  For the third month running I have seen my revenue drop down to below $50 and on one occasion closer to $40.  How much, or little, is that a month? By my reckoning it is just over 13c per thousand which is a real insult.

I have seen many talented writers stop writing on Triond and just return to add the odd article that they have no other use for.  I still get a little bit of residual earnings from the site but it is not worth the time and effort any more.

So, I guess it is time to stop writing here where carefully crafted work is not appreciated and find somewhere else where there is at least some acknowledgement given. Take any other writing site on the internet and they will pay you more than 13c per 1000 reads.

Writers are the life blood of Triond and without them there would be no site left. We have been so inundated with all kinds of rubbish that has been published and even listed in the hot content list. What a dreadful impression this gives to non members who stop by, let alone prospective advertisers.  Triond sites are slowly being banned by social bookmarking sites and the recent banning of Healthmad by Propellor is just one example of this.

Good writers will continue to be squeezed out and replaced by the ‘detritus producers’ and page scrapers who really don’t give a **** what they write as long as they earn a few cents.

There is no pride here.

The whole machine is driven by greed.

Hear! Hear! I have walked as you know. I read the work of friends, but am no longer going to write here.
A brave, honest article. It also proves Triond do not read work through. They uploaded this within seconds of you letting me know you had written it. If it had been vetted it would not have been published as Triond do not want to hear the truth!

That is bogus! With that many views you should have been paid over 300 dollars. Also, I think, if your views reach a certain milestone, say 1,000, 5,000, or something, they should give us bonus income for doing a good job, even if it was only an extra dollar if our article reached 5,000 views. Have you tried integrating with google adsense yet? With that many views you should be able to make a killing.

Here is one the smartest, most exacting depictions of the state of affairs at Triond I have seen in awhile. I run about half as many articles as Louie and ergo, half the earnings and also feel that this is bogus. I used to more-or-less expect to earns $2.00 to $3.00 per articles, no matter how ‘viral.’ A really good viral article would earn 10X this, but I could plan my earnings. Now, I am lucky to earn 50-cents per month/per article and then, only the most current.

I have stopped writing here since Jan.21rst and unless things really and substantially improve with the earnings and promotion from within, I most likely am not coming back.
Besides, I have found a new gig that for 1/3rd as many articles, I am earning more than I make here (don’t worry, won’t spam your article for my link but you know the site I am speaking of..) ;-)

Great article Louie. You get my Stumble.

It’s very frustrating because my views keep going up and the pay keeps going down! It’s too bad because Triond has just about the easiest publishing format too but the pay has dropped so low it’s just not competitive any more. Competitive is at least $1.50 per 1,000 views.

I must have come late to the table, so to speak, because I’ve never made more than $5.00 a month on Triond. I mostly place articles here for the writing community, which has a delightful solidarity. I feared at first that two or three dollars was all I would ever earn online; but Triond proved a good place to learn and to make contacts. Like the rest of you, I have found other web publishers who pay better. I’ve even seen a few of you there, as well. Honestly, though, I’ve seen the same kind of worry on other sites. As new publishers are introduced, and the scramble for viewers and advertisers become more intense, I predict some interesting times ahead.

Hmm… this is discouraging, to say the least. Well, like others here, I’m doing better financially on other sites.

    Hi Jan
I have also ceased writing on Triond, because not only of people who have asked me to read and comment on their work and promise to read mine and never do (Dirty Tricks!) but also of substandard material. I know some of mine isn’t perfect, but in comparison to some others I feel it is good. However I am contacting my other friends to give my email address as well as you having it, because if something decent crops up, I will let you know.
I shall be in contact with you privately soon to discuss our writing although I will still have the odd glimpse on Triond to see if there is any change occassionally until I find a preferred sight to transfer my work to I may well publish some of the stories as it still stays as our copyright.

    Take Care

    Tim

Right on! I was gone for a year, due to vision issues. Earnings are decreasing, articles of poor quality are all over the place- I remember getting declined for grammar, puncuation, and everything. Now I never get declined, the quality of other articles is not good. I feel I should take my talent, and my work, elsewhere. As a matter of fact, I have started my own company-http://www.Smarte-Lit.com . I sell subscriptions by email for children’s and teens literature, and I am doing better already than I have at Triond. I tried Helium, but I didn’t care for it. Am searching and looking at other sites, such as Associated Content, etc. Good Luck, everybody!

I am a starting writer and I do like Triond, but I hope to develop my skills and go elsewhere in time, but so far I write for fun and not for money.
Maybe this is also a problem with on line writing: hobbyist and professionals are stagged together in one pile.

The decline in revenue may well be something to do with the recession and advertisers paying less… however…!

As has been said above – one of the more honest articles about Triond. I must say that some of the T sites – such as Trifter – still seem to be over $1 per K but I have not taken time out to check others. Just have and the big sticky out one is this – my first (and only) foray in to writing on athingforcars has had 1233 hits – and has received 17 lousy cents. Good grief – I should have been looking closer!

I hope you don’t mind bad language but if Triond would just stop publishing f8888ng sh8t then possibly they can still redeem their reputation. As it is with more and more sites blocking their websites (am just waiting for SU to do it – Triond users seem to think it is some sort of wild west) then I will have to go too…

    Hum!

I stopped writing for Triond because of declining revenue. I now spend most of my time writing for Suite101. The pay is much, much higher, and the site is much more professional. I’m making about $60/month on Suite101 with around 80 articles. Compared to what writers on Suite101 are making, my earnings are in the low range for the number of articles I have written. The site has a lot of promise.

Thats why I stopped writing… It seemed that the more i wrote and marketed the less I made. It wasn’t worth it anymore… Great article maybe it’ll wake up troind

wow… I wish I had seen this before I came to Triond and dumped a handful of articles I didn’t want to publish elsewhere. I’m glad I can delete them. Now I can take them to someone who will actually pay.

I’m on Associated Content (started to get disheartened by how cheap/stringent the pay was becoming – way different than ‘06 when I joined!)

My highest-viewed article has had 27 views since I posted it yesterday, but no revenue… what gives? AC would have at least tacked on a penny or something.

I am close to speechless. This is a great article. I just joined Triond two weeks ago and must admit that with a few articles, I was suprised I made 14 cents with no more than 75 views. Not sure why there is a big difference in what you are getting (13 cents per 1000 views) but its clear that you are being treated in an unfair way, and I can only wonder if that will happen to me as well.
    Thanks for letting us know!

I wish I should have taken this article seriously when I read it first. It would have saved me 6 six months time. Triond keeps on reducing eCPM rates every single month. These days they are doing lot of gimmicks. They are now fooling all users with a bogus bonus. They first reduce our earning rate per 1000 views and pay back only 10% on the current earning for August month only if we were to write five more articles this month. What a load of crap??
Clever is Triond who uses a so-called 48 hour delay to update earnings and views which makes it hard for anyone to know whatever load is happening here. I no longer have doubts that Triond is cheating.

WOAH!? When I joined, I thought it was 1 cent per view! then I found out I only get 0.04 cents a view!!!! No wonder I still haven’t earnt a cent!

I liked it when Trionds did the $1 per 100 views. Those stupid get money from offers sites don’t work for people outside the USA. It’s NO FAIR!

Gosh.. a powerful piece. It’s sad but there is a lot of truth here. Triond really isnt a way to earn a good income.. it still is good for the odd article you dont have anywhere else to put though!
