Freelance writers are the highest earning professionals in the world. Can you become one?
Freelance writing jobs are considered as one of the most lucrative jobs in the market. An able writer who could make his words talk would run away with a handsome perk.
Though, one must remember that writing is a highly specialized skill. Your writings need to generate enough interest in the minds of the readers. Perks always chase a good writer, but the question remains, how good a writer you are?

An experienced freelance writer could rake in $70K a year, on an average. Though, not every Tom, Dick and Harry would be able to pocket such sums. You need to slog in your initial days as a freelancer, before you could start fancy your chances of earning sums in excess of $70,000 or even $60,000 a year.
Most of the upcoming writers stumble in the very first year of their sojourn. They jump to freelance writing, thinking that money could be extracted quite easily. They had perhaps, seen their neighbours sitting on a laptop, the whole day, and earn a good deal. Now, they had derived inspiration from their neighbours, and even fancy their chances of earning a handsome pay perk.
There’s nothing wrong with it, but what greenhorns miss, is the effort and the sacrifice, these established writers make. The experienced writers have learnt the art of writing, the hard way. They have inculcated discipline, and understood the significance of meeting a client’s deadline. That is something a novice freelance writer should realize.
A beginner’s pay perk
If you begin your freelance writing career, believing that you would earn thousands in your very first month, then you are advised to look for some other career options.
It would be futile to imagine such huge sums in the beginning, rather focus on striking writing deals, and make plans on how should you complete your assignment within the expected deadline. Your rates may be low, initially, probably only 50cents per 100 words, but more importantly, you have got a break.
Imagine if you are able to write 5000 words a day, over a period, say a month, then you would earn in excess of $25 a day, and more than $750 a month, in your very first month. Many clients pay a standard 1 cent per word, which would help you earn a substantial amount.
Significantly, beginners should be more tolerant and look to capitalize on the job opportunities they get, rather than running only after the money. Money does come as time progresses.
An experienced writer’s earning
Again, a lot depends on what field a writer writes. A content writer would earn lower than a business writer. A business writer is one who writes for companies. A business writer is also known as a copywriter. If you could write a sales copy, then you would earn anywhere above $400-$500 per sales letter, but it also depends on who recruits you.
A standard rate for single sales later is $400. It all boils down to how many sales letter you could write. You could also subsequently write contents for individual clients and earn considerably large sums.
A hardworking writer would be able to earn in excess of $40,000 a year. However, writing hard is not just the only criteria you require. A good writing skill is a must. Your writings should excite readers. It should be meaningful, to make readers come back to your articles more often.
Your writing should also have a correct mix of keywords. It is a combination of things, which makes a writer count. There’s no limit to what you could earn as a freelance writer. Good freelance writers are the highest earning professionals in the world.
