Is it just me, or are these lists quite a mystery?
I enjoy writing here on Triond and I enjoy reading what others share. Occasionally I go exploring here on Triond and this is what I see.
First, I see a lot of articles that I think are a bit spammy, the wording is all wrong, some of it makes no sense and there are oodles upon oodles of them posted. I guess the spam is power for the course.
Second, the Hot Content list rarely shows new articles. Although I have seen recent articles from CHIPMUNK , ruby hawk, and a few others…. but I find it odd that articles from 2009 and 2010 appear right at the top of Hot Content. Kudos to the newer articles that make the front page.
Third, the Hot Users list seems very outdated. Many of the writers listed have not written an article in well over year and seem very inactive. I know there work is still search-able out there on the big World Wide Web and perhaps they still get a ton of searches…nevertheless, I feel like more active members of the Triond Community should be in the Hot Users list.
No one seems to really know how to get on these lists although they have algorithm theories and continual theories. Some say the Hot Content is based on views and comments while others say it is the type of article. And some believe that the Hot Users list consists of authors within the Hot Content list. The theories do not matter to me, I just wish the lists were a little more updated. There are also theories on how to stay on the list (at least for a few days) by posting one new article a day after making it to the list.
My goal here isn’t to make either list, just pondering the explorations of Triond. I love writing and having my work out there to be seen, enjoyed, questioned and critiqued. The pennies for my thoughts, that is a bonus. I was just wondering: Is it just me, or are these lists, truly, a mystery?

A mystery to me as well, triond is fun for writing but, some things are extremely strange I love to write and some of us are looking on are friends older articles and leaving comments or just clicking for more views, I don’t think anyone will get rich, but i do wish they would screen the articles better, some people seem to spam and really aren’t writers at heart.

They are truly a mystery. There is way to much spam here. I bet without any exaggeration I have had not less than 100 business offers that are definitely spam as well as plagiarized work. Maybe these folks are trying to build their pyramid but that is advertising of the worst kind and they didn’t write it and 99.9% of those businesses are just a scam. There is no such thing as get rich quick unless maybe in that 3 billion to 1 chance you do win the Lottery. I also get a chuckle over all these you’ve got a new fan and you check the person out and I can’t imagine why they would be my fan. No common interest what so ever in either direction. You’ve made some very good points here. Some of the folks in Hot Users aren’t even with Triond anymore. I was looking up a subject for research and tripped over a Triond writer. Good article, I went to their page to check them out. Their last article published was 2008.

Many of those older articles are still gaining search phrases and views even after 4 years. It shouldn’t be surprising but I’d give it til the end of this year that these old articles get replaced. I think this article of yours now may take hot content.
April 22nd, 2012 at 12:31 am
yes, I’m agree..,
First hot content’s still from ulsterman and never change until now,
April 22nd, 2012 at 1:29 am
Not much on the hot content list appeals to me. I’d like to see just once a work of fiction on the hot content list, but I’m not holding my breath.
April 22nd, 2012 at 2:32 am
If your average total views equate to around 1,000 views per article it will probably be enough to get on the hot users list.

I was not a powerful writer like momofplenty people have mentioned, I also sometimes difficult to write with good grammar and correct because essentially I was not a long stay in the west, I was the east, Indonesia rather well, but I strongly agree with momofplenty, I just made the event as a place to vent on triond.com expression, emotion, and my feelings because I just wanted to write and love to write, but to meet people like you in Triond is very hard, thank you I finally found someone which have the same mind, go ahead and keep working and discover the art of writing …..!

I also do not really understand what we have to do to get onto such a list…
April 22nd, 2012 at 8:27 am
No one really know the answer to that. Not even Triond…
April 22nd, 2012 at 8:50 am
There is way too much spam or very oddly written stuff here…alot of it obviously having just gone through auto-translate.
April 22nd, 2012 at 10:25 am
I also have noticed them – the only capable to answer it is triond…
April 22nd, 2012 at 12:58 pm
Interesting views here for sure!
April 22nd, 2012 at 2:11 pm
If it was updated it would motivate a lot of writers
April 22nd, 2012 at 5:48 pm
You post some good stuff, full of knowledge.
it would help everyone who wanted to write if they were easy to find for people to read, hot list em and make them easy to get at.
April 22nd, 2012 at 7:24 pm
Thank you all for responding. Maybe we should contatc Triond and ask them to update the Hot Users list more frequenlty?
April 23rd, 2012 at 12:25 am
I think no one fully understands the hot content list, including Triond management.
April 23rd, 2012 at 1:34 pm
Triond has no algorithm at all for Hot content. They choose the articles of their favorite writers.
The best thing about Triond is the freedom it gives to the members.
The worst thing about Triond is publishing adult content and its Hot content.
People will lose interest and faith in Triond if this continues.

This is a Good article, and should be reconized because
maybe the rules or something has changed because if there
are a lots of gifted talented writers out here they should be
recognized for their works.
All posting, feeds, etc that is going on within the website should
always be up to date. Maybe something will be done about this,
at least, I hope so because new works should be displayed.
I want to read it and keep abreast on what’s new and what is
going on now. I love variety, and learning about something out
of the ordinary, new, explosive, fun, exciting, very informative,
helpful information is what we all need in order to keep going.
(Smile) And I hope Everyone Have A Great Day!

Well, this is officially comment # 22, there is a theory out there that suggests that once an article has 21 comments, it makes the Hot Content list. This is still pages and pages away from the front. So that theory is a wash.
April 25th, 2012 at 7:17 am
Yes, another theory bites the dust. As far as Triond are concerned if it’s making lots of money for them – that’s hot!

Ending the Mystery
Some YEARS ago the way to crack the Hot Content List was found and certain characters were able to get on the List within minutes of posting dreck.
The same users invented this ‘Ulsterman’ thing and here’s what happened.
The Whitehouse insider has a few million hits. No one can get a few million hits in a few days, hence it witll NEVER move from that position because for over a year there hasn’t been any real moderator, owner, involvement in the site.
In 2007 Hot Content and Hot Users changed frequently; today, you’re looking at a more than a year’s olds stuff.
April 26th, 2012 at 5:56 pm
Well said, momofplenty! as we say here you could have said it louder but not clearer! Thanks for sharing!
April 27th, 2012 at 1:13 am
I know what you mean. There seems to be a monopoly of a few users here. Do they, perhaps, own the site? I wonder.
April 27th, 2012 at 3:11 am
I don’t understand Triond, really, really…what I am flabbergasted about is why am I here? for what? I don’t know, seriously but I am glued, sorry if I don’t make any sense
April 28th, 2012 at 2:01 am
i had an article get over 3,000 views in less than 2 weeks because it was promoted at a few blogs and it never hit the ‘hot content’ list. that thing is a mystery to me, too. and i hate those spammy articles that make no sense – they are different from articles where English is the second language – i can’t fault someone for that- i admire when people can write in another language – but the ones i am talking of are so obviously just cut and pasted gibberish. frustrating to see when you work hard at making an article decent. oh well. great article! thanks for writing it
April 29th, 2012 at 4:25 pm
Yeah I agree with you guys.
