I think I have finally found the true purpose of the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette.
The Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, is my online magazine that is published every day.
It takes time for an online writer to find out what he or she has to offer to the world that is unique. And when you write on the Internet, if you want to be noticed, you have to offer something unique. I think I’ve found what I have to offer that’s unique.
Hello hello hello, my brother and sister writers. This is the Old Soldier reporting from Pittsburgh in the heart of the nitty, gritty city.
The PFFG has many things going for it. It has a writing contest. It has informative, concise articles on writing. It has insightful commentaries. And it publishes new writing talent. But probably the most important service the magazine can offer, is mentoring writers seeking publication.
When a writer sends his or her work to the magazine, if it is on target I publish it within five days. If the submission is close, I work with the writer until the submission is publishable and then I publish it in the magazine. If the work simply does not fit in the magazine, I tell the writer why so that the next time the writer will have a better chance of being published in the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, the most dynamic flash fiction magazine on the Internet.
In other words, other publication don’t do this. They don’t have the time. They send the writer an impersonal rejection slip and that’s that. No writer can learn to become a better writer from such treatment.
That’s why I think my magazine has a real future.
I’m helping writers to become better writers. And it doesn’t cost them a penny. Now that’s unique.

Guy,
You are so right about those cold rejection letters. Its nice to know there is someone out their willing to help hone our talents and make us even better writers. Hopefully I will be submitting to your magazine in the near future. I think these other editors should keep a close eye on you, and maybe they might learn something. Sure glad you found what you were good at. Great article.!!!

I think I have figured out how to balance my commitments to the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette, my ghostwriting and Triond. I think I’ll be able to put up one article a week at Triond. I’ll see if that works out.

So what do those writers that you help do eventually? Write articles to help writers? Well, that was my guess.
