Help Feed This Starving Writer – Read my Article!

Page views are the life blood of this starving and anemic writer. I write for the love of it, and also because I hope to make a career out of it. So, help a struggling writer out and read this!

Thank you! To the person who is reading this article right now, and to all the other people who will read this article in the future, a big, giant thank you! As an up-and-coming writer – a struggling one at that – who is trying to get his writing career afloat, I can use all the help I can get. And the more people who read my work, the better!

But it hasn’t been easy. It’s been just under a year now since I really started to focus on my writing and actually publish articles online. Prior to that, I was always a fairly decent writer who loved to write letters and various types of correspondence. I have always been an avid reader as well, and that can definitely help a writer become an even better one!

The hardest part for me, a writer who is still in the embryonic stages of his writing career, has been finding writing assignments or outlets for my writing that will enable me to earn a “decent” income stream. Now, I know the word “decent” is purely subjective and relative, but for me, decent means earning more than the trickle of change and the few dollars here and there that my writing has been generating every month. I love money, and I want much more of it!

Granted, every little bit of extra income helps out, especially with gas prices the way they are, and I gladly take whatever comes my way. But I want more – much more!

My main goal is to be able to make enough income from my writing to actually live comfortably off of it. So far, the only way I could live comfortably off of what I’ve been making is if my residence were a cardboard box underneath a freeway overpass! And even then I’d probably still have to take out a loan for home improvements.

Frustrating my forward advancement has been my inability to land a real “paying” writing job; instead, I have been focusing most of my efforts on writing for various revenue-generating sites that basically pay you based on how many viewers click on your articles and on the ads in your articles. Some people can make a nice chunk of change from that every month – but I’m not one of them! And that type of a set up is good for earning extra pocket change, but if your goal is to earn a substantial income every month, it definitely seems to be an uphill battle.

But I will continue to press on. In fact, I spend a great amount of time each and every day scouring the Internet and various message boards and forums in the hopes of finding new writing opportunities, gigs, and writing leads. When I start to feel discouraged and worn, and when I start having urges to throw in the towel and go out and find a “real job”, I smack myself in the head a few times and remind myself to just “persevere” and hold out for that one big opportunity that is sure to be lurking around the next corner!

Thanks again for reading this article!
