Writings of a fevered mind!
Clouds do come in different shapes and patterns – always!
In order for this exercise to work, one just needs a quiet place which is far away from distraction if possible. It would mean turning your cell phone off or putting it into silent mode. Also, it is necessary that the mind is clear; do not watch television or play any portable games. Since this is a writing exercise, do bring a pen and notebook. You can do this whether you are sitting in a chair or looking from your window as long as you can see the sky and the clouds that would be fine.
The time in conducting this activity depends on you. Have a schedule that is comfortable and relaxing. If you are working from Monday through Friday, you can do it over the weekends. Now, after you have settled in your comfortable set-up just clear your mind and look at the clouds.
At first, it might not hit you in an instant; however, with imagination, I think you’ll be able to see recognizable patterns. We’re just reconnecting with the kid within us by putting our imagination into work. Now, to paraphrase an old Jedi master, relax your mind; feel the clouds and be one with it. Look at the formation and see the patterns that you can identify, but don’t try. Observe their movement and how white color contrasts with the light blue color of the sky.
Whatever image you see in the clouds you can connect it with another cloud formation. Once you have at least two to three shapes, make a simple story about those shapes. It will come into you spontaneously and you will not notice the passage of time. If you think you were able to create a simple story write them down. That’s when your pen and notebook comes in.
Be a kid again and look at the clouds. You will be surprised with the stories they tell.
