A look at the goals I am setting for the new year, while I ponder whether the world will end or not.
As 2012 approaches and New Year’s Day, I am again setting goals. It has been a few years since I decided to plan my life instead of letting life drift where ever it would take me.
This is rather a difficult task for me as I actually believe we are living in the last moments of this dispensation, the Age of Grace. I believe that the Lord, Jesus the Christ, is going to descend in the clouds with a shout and a trumpet sound call His faithful back home virtually any moment. So for me to think about what I want to accomplish next year in terms of worldly goals run counter to my desire to spend every waking moment studying the Word.
He did say to “occupy” until He returns and I suppose that that means He wants us to do the things we need to in order to continue our existence here.
So here are some of the items I am going to focus on:
Promoting my Hart Nana’s Goats Milk Soap.
It has taken me fourteen years to learn to make a quality bar of goats milk soap. The first ten years were spent steeling up my nerve to make cold processed soap. The last four in developing a recipe that was creamy, luxurious and easy to make. None of my soap is particularly consistent from one batch to the next so I market it as being rustic and handcrafted. It is good soap. The recipe I use creates a bar that is 1/3 goats milk by volume. It is the fresh goats milk that makes all of the difference.
It is my plan to attend crafts fairs here in the valley where I live and farmer’s markets in the summer at least two weekends per month. I will also promote my website online through articles, facebook, twitter and gift baskets geared towards specific holidays.
Training Larry my Llama Larry came to live with us a short while ago and I have plans to train him to pull a cart this year. If we can get him trained well enough I plan to use him at fairs and farmers markets to sell rides and promote my soap. We might even enter him in the local parades for the fourth of July and Black and White days (it’s a local dairy cow exhibition).
Purchase a 4-5 acre parcel of land We are actively looking to purchase a piece of land to build a shipping container house on. It is my goal to acquire this piece
of land this year and learn every thing I can about building a home from scratch.
Make money through article writing online While it might seem self evident that I am trying to make some income from online writing, it is my goal to learn as much as I can about it and to earn a couple hundred dollars a month with it by the end of the year. I love to write, mostly because I love to talk to people. Honestly I am very opinionated so writing come easily for me. Cybertruth’s article has given me some practicle ways to get going with this goal.

Good luck with your goals for 2012. Your country living sounds interesting. I hope you will continue to write about it.
