If your writing has been growing stale, maybe it is time to shake things up a bit!
There are times, when all us writers feel ourselves getting stale. We sometimes think that we don’t have one more poem, short story, or article within us. When this happens perhaps it is time to shake things up a bit and to flex those writing muscles!
Try a new form of writing. Not only might you discover you have more than one writing talent, you will learn new things about yourself and about writing in general.
Those of you who tend to write informative articles, might find it a nice refreshing break to try your hand a poetry or a creative story. If nothing else you may discover that writing a good poem or short story takes a lot more talent than you thought. You will have a whole new appreciation for those who can write consistently in those genres.
Those of you who express yourselves so well with poetry, might gain a new insight and appreciation of those who chose to write articles. Writing an article where you have to keep your own feeling in check and presenting an unbiased set of facts may prove far more difficult than you first thought.
Writing about a totally new topic in a way that is vastly different than your usual style will actually help you to not only write better and more creatively but will give you new insights and a whole new writing outlook.
You may discover that what looks easy from where you are sitting now is a lot more difficult when you are the one who is actually performing the task. If nothing else, when you next read someone’s work that is outside your own writing genre you will view the work through different eyes.
It will also allow you to go back to writing in your own style with renewed vigor and appreciation for the written word in general.
In short, whether your attempts turn out good or bad, whether you allow others to read this new type of work or throw it in the trashcan you will have learned something that will help make you a better and more proficient writer.
You may not make the Hot Content list with your new work, but it just could make you a more contented writer.

You have a very helpful article here. Sometimes we do hit that spot when we feel we don’t have another article in us. We all need to jump out of our own shell once in awhile.

Very helpful article. My first love is fiction and children’s stories but I have been writing more nonfiction as of late. I find I enjoy writing in first person but have tried a few in third person.
