Finding Fault with Triond: Forum Users Find Fault

The riff-raff speak!

In the first part of this series, Finding Fault with Triond, I discussed all of the things that, well, suck about Triond. I also described why I feel they suck. As a follow up to that article, I decided to ask the forum users at Triond what gripes they have with the site. The following are the quotes they gave me.

If you would like to read some the following writers’ work, just click on their name above their quote. Some of them do not publish on Triond much, if at all, nowadays, but you can message them if you would like to find their work elsewhere, if applicable.

Duff D. Moss

This quote is my favorite because Duff had no idea that I would be quoting him. He has since learned. Where you see symbols or odd capitalization, use your imagination.

“How about their totally and completely arbitrary standards regarding what is acceptable content especially relating to matters of a sexual persuasion. Heaven forbid you should ever get the editor Abigail checking out your article. She is completely and utterly adverse to p*nis of any form. P*nis is evil. I am pretty sure she was mercilessly beaten as a child with a giant horse cRock.

I mean obviously men are pr*cks, men are evil, and thus p*nis is completely and utterly evil. Cannot be mentioned, even if it’s hidden in the most bizarre euphemism. The sun’s rays beat upon the earth, penetrating the living fibre of all beneath him. Not only is that sexual evil p*nis, but it is VIOLENT sexual evil p*nis.

HOLY SpIT just talking about this gets me p*ssed off. Try and get those Triond Puckers to tell you what is objectionable with your article. I dare ya. If you even get a response (highly unlikely) you will get “p*nis is evil, please think of the children”

Duff raises a good point about the lack of communication between the staff and the users here. Even the most backward forums (let alone publishing sites) online have better admin to user skills than Triond’s staff. Furthermore, he makes a good point about horrible stuff slipping through the cracks while other stuff gets kicked back. I have seriously read articles by teenagers about having s*& with adults.

Bo Jack Russo

“Provide better customer service. Don’t just respond to a complaint or question when they want to. If someone takes the time to email them, the least they can do is respond. Every customer question is important, no matter how small or trivial the question may be. We are not their social directors for help, and we can only do so much, much is up to them on their end.”

This is also an excellent point. One that has been raised repeatedly in “getsatisfaction.”

REPuckett

“The thing I hate the most about Triond is Triond’s reputation. If Triond had a better reputation on the web, us writers would enjoy more traffic and, therefore, better pay. A better reputation can be built by addressing some the things that have already been mentioned. More namely, a more hands-on editing process which would ensure that only quality content makes it through to publication. However, to avoid an enormous amount of work to be put into a more hands-on editing process, maybe an application process would be a good idea. Triond could request a writing sample in an attempt to at least make sure that their writer base has at least a high school level grasp of the English language and proper grammar. I also hate that they put more money into beautification of the site with new colors, vanity vids and pointless badges as opposed to promoting the subsites where content is published. This would also help with the overall reputation as well.”

Oddly, I never addressed this. I am happy REPuckett did. This is a very valid complaint.

Alaina Ellington

“I hate that the earnings are not automatically updated like the views are.”

This is another complaint that I had not mentioned in my first article. It’s great to get all these perspectives.

Dean Snyder

“Other than the rampant plagiarism, what annoys me the most is the grammar check. It has gotten to the point that someone who does not speak a single word of English can copy his article into a free English translator and it will be published.”

Dean is absolutely right. There is no standard here.

Knarf Sewob (giggle)

“The publishing time – I don’t publish anything time sensitive here because everytime I do, I have to email the editors to get it pushed through. The format of the articles – It is shoddy, and completely disruptive to the flow of the article. Getsatisfaction – They aggravate issues that could be easily addressed; they should reply to every complaint, even if they have not come to a resolution.”

100% spot on, Knarf. Publishing news on Triond is a joke as is getsatisfaction.

theresajohnson

“The only thing that I hate about Triond is that there are still many pieces of writing that are plagairized, and it seems like when it is reported to triond, they do not want to get rid of it.”

Quite right, TJ.

John Paul V

“Yup, the grammar Check is sometimes dumb, i tried writing an article about Obama, Bush and Mc Cain and I couldn’t publish it because of the Words “Barack Obama”… it’s been on revision 7 times now”

That’s ridiculous.

“Better communication between the to top “brass” of Triond, or any communication at all between them and “us”.”

That would be the first best thing they could do.

Belinda Dobie

“What can I say,
It’s my favorite place
To come and play.
Writing is interesting
and passes the time
but communicating with friends
I have found is no crime
Triond, Triond
Sometimes can be slow,
with editing problems
that grow and grow.
but surely as I type this today
I am greatful for the inventors
as they enabled me to get to know
the one place were I have found strong friendships to grow.”

I love Belle. Nothing is all bad to her.

nymphofairy

“I hate how Triond puts my poetry in the Health section.”

Blahaha, I wish they would stop that too.

There you have it, the complaints of the people. Granted, they are a small population of people who publish at Triond. However, I like to think of them as the group that has seen that light.

Oops. I almost forgot my honorable mention. This user has trouble sticking to the topic, but she gave us a complaint regardless.

“Accountability to who?? Triond don’t care, but I tell you one thing mentioning people in articles and publishing it, could cause some accountability{SP}”

Not if you post it in a public forum. Public Domain, baby.
