Biography of Fatih Sultan Mehmed.
FATIH SULTAN MEHMED
Mehmed the Second, also known as, Fatih Sultan Mehmed was a great sultan, as well as a great soldier. He conquered many empires and expanded the Ottoman Empire immensely. Being the exceptional man he was, the discoveries he made helped the Ottoman Empire evolve, as would be expected.
Fatih Sultan Mehmed was born in Edirne, and his death was mysterious. He first received the throne from his father at a very young age, when he was only twelve. He became a sultan for two years and was the seventeenth sultan in the Ottoman Empire.
When he first received the throne he had to hand it back to his father after a short period of time due to various reasons. Two years after Mehmed reclaimed the throne he brought an end to the Byzantine Empire by capturing the capital. The Ottoman State was recognized as an empire for the first time thanks to Fatih Sultan Mehmed. He finished his conquest at Byzantine with great success, capturing the capital. After the conquest of Constantinople he turned his attention to Anatolia. He captured the Beyliks and Trebizond. Once he captured Anatolia, secured Constantinople and made it the capital, he advanced into Europe. He though himself as the heir of the Roman Empire. Mehmed the Second finished his conquest by invading Otranto, Italy.
Mehmed was known as and called the “Conqueror.” There were many notable things about his life. He was so intelligent, so educated, and so full of knowledge. He spoke eight languages, including Turkish, French, Latin, Greek, Serbian, Persian, Arabic and Hebrew. He founded many universities and colleges, some of which still exists and serves the country.
There are many lessons we can learn from Mehmed’s life. One of these is to never give up: Mehmed conquered Constantinople, something that was very hard, that couldn’t be accomplished by anyone in a long period of time. He even carried ships over logs. Another lesson is to always try your har dest: Mehmed accomplished more compared to some other sultans; he had more determination then other sultans. Everyone believed that Mehmed was too young; no one believed in him, but he knew that no matter whom you are, no matter your age, you can complete even hardest tasks with perseverance. The greatest example of this is that Mehmed conquered Constantinople at the age of twenty one.
Mehmed’s life was interesting from the start till the end. He received the throne at a very young age, conquered many empires and died mysteriously. He was an intelligent man.
