Example of how to write an interview.
My interviewee’s name is Anastasia S. Park she holds a PhD from Saybrook University as well as M.A from USF and a M.M from Holy Names College. She is certified in domestic violence counselor, expressive arts therapist, and Parent Effectiveness Training instructor
I walked into the room were the large glass window overwhelmed the room with its presence it seemed as though there was more light illuminating form it then there was coming from the florescent tube lights. The walls were painted a dull white that was complimented by the black leather sofas and glass coffee table in the center. The smell of Windex and oranges permeated the room. My interviewee was sitting in the center chair facing the door.
“Hello I’m you name” I said extending a friendly hand.
“Nice to meet you I’m Anastasia Park, please have a seat” she said wile smiling and shaking my hand.
I jumped straight into the interview asking “What inspired you to become a psychologist?”
“Well what inspired me to become a psychologist was my passion to help people and my friends who always said I would do well in this field” she said after deeply thinking about it. I my self thought this was well thought out.
“Would you say that a higher education in your type of field would lead to more successes?” I asked haphazardly.
“I would say this really depends on what your goals are for instance if my goal was to open a clinic and start taking in clients then I would say no, but if my goal was to do research in a university then I would say yes. So you see it really depends on what the goal is.” She said confidently wile doing hand jesters. When I went thought about this quote it sort of reminded me of what my parents say “set your goals high so even if you don’t reach them you’ll be ahead of the people who aimed low” in other words deeper analysis shows that she is trying to say that success depends on were you aim.
“Do you personally think it matters who you know in life or is what you know more important?” I asked her curiously.
“The answer to this is quite simple actually what you know is directly related who you know for example if I knew the father of modern day physiology Edmund Feud I would know a lot more about psychology then I know right now. So you see they are dependent on each other.” She told me intently. When I heard this I thought this is completely different from what I read about.
“Lastly would you say that if one works hard enough, one can achieve anything” I said confidently
“Yes I would” she replied
“Thank you for you time I appreciate it” I said at the end of the interview. In my head I was thinking not bad for my first interview.
Overall I would acknowledge this experience as enlightening and insightful, I learned that information varies from person to person and that there is more then one way someone can answer a question. I would also say that more then a sufficient amount of that the interviewee said would correlate with my personal beliefs though it may go against some of what my research would say.
